Mags are pricey but I have a line on a buy four for $120
Looks like I can have a full size for $525 out the door...

love it

I bought my daughter the compact one for Christmas this year as she loves Browning's. It is a great compliment to her BL22 and 20ga. BPS youth and ladies model. Being of small stature and having small hands it is a great fit for her. Better yet, it gives her dear old dad opportunity to shoot it. Although we have fired less than 1000 rounds through it as of yet, I was very impressed with the fact that the only failures we had was with a couple of rounds of Winchester ammo out of a 555 pack. I finished the box off in my Ruger 22/45 hunter and had a few failures as well. Likely a bad box of ammo. On the very first trip to range we shot several different kinds of ammo. I was shocked that it flawlessly shot not only high velocity and standard velocity ammo, but subsonic as well. I must admit that I am not the best shooter, so I cannot comment on the accuracy of the gun. I can say that I shoot better with my 22/45 hunter, likely because it has a longer sight radius and a little more weight. With enough practice, I'm sure I could narrow the gap. They are both a blast to shoot. My aging eyes make the petite black on black sights hard to see, but I intend on using some nail polish on front sight before next trip to range to help a little. I would say that due to the fact that it will shoot whatever you feed it, it is well worth the extra cost, which will quickly be offset by ability to shoot cheaper and easier to get ammo. I am sure it will hold its value, although I am sure it will one day be handed down in the family and never sold. I'm positive there will be another one in the future. I am hoping that Browning opts for a version with better sights for those of us that need them.

I have the full size. Bought it to use to introduce young and/or petite shooters to the 1911. Grandkids love a gun "just like Grandpa's", and it's far easier for smaller hands to hold and shoot. The quality is excellent, and mine has been 100% reliable.

It's downright tiny in my hands, but I still enjoy shooting it. No regrets over spending the money, it will be an heirloom.

My wife got me one for Christmas/Birthday. I was quite pleasantly surprised as I am a big 1911 fan. It is great little gun. We have shot several brands of ammo (including subsonic) through it with no failures. This gun will never leave the family for sure. Although small I have no problem with it. Sights are bit on the small side but something I can adjust to. Lots of fun to shoot.

Good gun. Here is 50 shots, 15 yrds offhand. You have to work the sights to keep it from climbing in your grip as you can see with mine, but I find it is reliable, easy to shoot, accurate and just a heavy trigger.

Now that I have 7 mags (took a while to find) my next project will be to take it apart, remove the magazine disconnect and work on a trigger job for it. It is too much of a fun gun to shoot to deal with the heavy trigger.

I've been looking at these, too. I think it would be ideal for my young son, and my wife may enjoy it as well. Any chance an after-market set of sights would fit? Is the front sight staked in a slot, like the mil-spec 1911? Does the rear dovetail slot match any standare size? Is this Browning manufactured, or Umarex, under license by Browning?

I haven't been able to find one in-person, but my LGS is willing to order one if I commit to purchase. He said there has been absolutely no local interest in the down-scaled size that I've been searching for.

Made in Salt Lake City by the same company that builds the Buckmarks under contract for Browning.

A new pistol "Made in the U.S.A."? I didn't think that happened anymore. I will look at them.

I "think" the front sight is part of the slide but I did not pull the gun to check. The rear sights are small but I believe Browning now is offering a better sight package with the gun.

I don't have (much) problems with the sights, but the heavy trigger pull on mine I need to work on.

I would add the gun is a kick to shoot. It is just fun.

You folks have revived my almost-dormant intrest in these, as I had just about given up on finding any to handle. Having made a bunch of phone calls this morning, I found a dealer who placed an order while at SHOT last week. He won't give me an ETA, but will call me upon delivery.

In addition to the model pictured in a previous post, he also ordered a couple with laminated wood grips, ambi safety, different sights, flat m/s housing, etc. Said MSRP is about $600.00, but street price will be a bit less. A lot steeper than I had hoped, but I'm still looking forward to seeing them.

Oh, by the way: Dennis is correct, these are made here in the USA. Front sight is staked-in, so theoretically the set could be replaced/upgraded.

And don't forget the new "composite" frame versions. :)

I just got back from the range, shot my 1911-22 for the first time. I put a box of CCI Mini Mags, a box of CCI Velocitors, and a box of Winchester Wildcats through it. It was 100% reliable, no ftf or fte, and as accurate as my old eyes and trifocals would allow. The sights are a little small but should be fine for plinking. Now if they would make a similar model in 32 ACP or 380 ACP like the old Colt 1903 or Colt 1908 I'd be in the market for another Browning.
