Just curious if anyone is close to where I am. Really having trouble finding place to shoot. Hate driving 60 miles to range

I live in Prattville, Alabama

Central Alabama is in Shorter but I think new membership is temporarily closed.

Lower Wetumpka Road is close to you but hours are limited.

Secondhand info but a guy I spoke to said there's a gun shop named Toads in Billingsley that has a range.

I haven't checked it out yet but Montgomery now has indoor range on Carmichael Road.

The Tuskegee Forest also has a public range.

Most people that own land outside of city limits typically just shoot in their backyard. I wish I could do that.

Yep, shorter is closed to new members and the one on lower wetumpka road has very limited hours which conflict with my work schedule except on Sunday afternoons from 1-5.
I have been to Tuskegee as well as Talledega National forest shooting ranges, but not crazy bout the company there sometimes. I was really hoping to find somewhere where BP was the main focus not centerfire rifles. I heard about the one on Carmichael road, but like you have not checked it out.

I don't know if you remember a club called Swift creek gun club in Autaugaville, but I went by there yesterday and it is gonna open back up as loose cannon firearms. Its fairly close to where I live so I am kinda excited about that. I called and they said in the next couple weeks.

I don't have that shoot in my back yard luxury, wish I did!!

Contact Holcomb Kearns at the Gun Works-334-415-0998. He is a very good gunsmith and may know of a site. Also try your local Sheriff Office Range Officers in Elmore/Montgomery/Autauga Co. They may allow civilians to use the range if no classes are scheduled. Be sure to make sure you mention picking up targets and brass/trash etc.

I also live in Prattville, AL and need a place closer to shoot. Does anyone know if Loose Cannon Firearms, Inc. has a shooting range open to the public?

Don't know about Loose Cannons. Will check into it.

The indoor Montgomery range is now open. A little pricey but decent place.

The link to Jerome Mallory above will reach Jerome, but he lives in Andalusia where I live. He may know of others but I imagine he would just tell you about The South Alabama Gun Club in Andalusia. It is 100 miles South of you and is also closed to new members at present. The only other range I know about is the one in the National Forrest at Dixie on 29 South. It is even another 30 miles past Andalusia.
