Is ammo more available where you are(than it used to be)? Stopped in Walmart the other day looking for something un-gun related. Thought while there I would check the gun section. Lo and behold, about 20 boxes of Federal 9mm 100 count for $25 on the shelf. So I got three and the girl said there was no limit. Holy cow! So I bought a few more.

I've sort of been out of the loop with the holidays and it being winter and all. Is the ammo drought over? Was I just lucky?

I am seeing a lot more of .223/5.56 and more 9mm than I have in previous months.
So at the expense of being called a hoarder when things finally settle down do yourselfs all a big favor and try to bank at least a 1000 rounds per your main shooting guns.
Frankly I stocked up heavily between late 2010 thru December 2012.
The writing was all over the wall.

The storm has calmed..

That's a good price! I'm seeing more 9mm available online than it was around early 2013. The prices have come down roughly 50% or more also. Only time will tell if they drop further. Fortunately, my local gun club/range has always had a good supply. I still buy my 7.62x54r ammo online, but can't justify the added shipping cost for 9mm. Happy shooting! :)

I think its hit and miss. In my area, 9mm was making a come back. I purchased a couple of boxes with the intent to buy some more.

I stopped off at WM and my LGS and Gander Mountain. All were out of 9mm. Plenty of .40 and .45apc and even boxes and boxes of .38 special. Hardly any .380 and no 9mm.

I went to the range planning on shooting my 9mm after I bought some more ammo, but was glad I brought the 1911 along. I had a giftcard to Gander, so I picked up a 100 pack of .45. Shot my 3 mags of 9 and finished with about 70 rounds of .45 and a box of .357.

I can get 40 and 45 at the drop of a hat, but 9mm is still hit or miss, mostly miss.

I can't find .38 Special anywhere in New Jersey.

I go to the Dicks Sporting Goods around Burlington and Camden county and .40 Cal is practically falling off the shelves with 45 ACP a close second.

No .22 LR or 9mm to be found either. The shortage is still around but has become schizophrenic.

I guess the days of $19.95 Remington 525 packs are over.

I've seen .223, 9mm, .40 and .45 available in most Walmarts I go into these days. Even Walmart is a bit high on the .223 (at least from my viewpoint), but the ammo is certainly there. There's not a lot of brand choices available yet though. You can go in for XYZ brand specifically - you just take what's there.

About the only thing that is seemingly just not availble still is .22LR. Its occasionally there - my dad picked up two boxes of CCI Stingers a few boxes back and he was just randomly in the store - but its still far from common.

I stopped in WM this weekend on my way to the range. They had lots of 9mm, .40, .45, .38. No .380 in sight (although the sales guy told me someone came in that morning and bought 10 boxes. He said only .22LR has a 3 box limit now).

Still no .357, .380 or .22LR.

One thing I did notice is that they had TulAmmo in .223/5.56 for $5.39 a box (20). That's about .30 cents cheaper than I've been able to find it online. And they a lot.

I picked up a 100 round box of Winchester (white box) of .38 for $40. That's the cheapest I've been able to get it since this crap all started. It kind of figures, when I got a 9mm, there was plenty of .380 and no 9mm. I sold it and bought a little pocket .380; plenty of 9mm and no .380 to be found. :banghead:

We are swimming in ammo around here, with the exception of .22lr and .380 auto. The proliferation of pocket pistols has wiped out the .380 ammo.

Still pretty spotty here in the DFW area. Some stores have it, some don't.

Local Wallyworld has a fair amount of rifle ammo, but not much handgun ammo. No .22lr.
Academy stores have a fairly good stock of rifle ammo, but in handgun, not all calibers or bullet weights. No .22lr.

I've spoke with several people (besides gougers) the past few weeks that had actually found 22 on the shelf. We've have a pretty good flow of normal centerfire (excepte 380) for a while now. I've even caught 357sig on the shelf. I picked up some 50BMG at walturd last month.

I'd agree if you were referring to shotgun ammo.

Other stuff? Yeah, coming around a little, but not really at WM much. Almost never dry in most centerfire ammo at BPS, though (except in .32ACP.)

The proliferation of pocket pistols has wiped out the .380 ammo.

Lucky I guess, but I stopped by PrecisionOne Tuesday while in Charleston,SC visiting my son. Picked up 300 rounds at a very reasonable price -- also picked up 250 rds of 9mm while there.

Jeff, the owner, said that I was his first retail customer. :)

Everything except .380 and 22 lr is easily available here...the price?

Not so much but I buy almost everything I need on line and al the ammunition I shoot now is hand loaded....'cept the .22 which we cannot get.
