Any way to make my 10/22 . . . NOT semi-auto?

In that case keep the 10/22 as it is and let it do what it is already good at. For a straight pull buy a biathalon rifle or a Browning T-bolt.

The thing with the 10/22 is that unless you remove the recoil spring and add the forward lock you'll still be fighting the spring tension for ever chambering. It won't have the smooth effortless action of a straight pull bolt rifle without such mods. I'd even go so far as to suggest that the extra need to set a lock such as the Colossic add on would become a trifle annoying sooner rather than later.

To get an idea of what I mean go around to a store and actually try the action on a Browning T-bolt. Then figure on it becoming even SMOOTHER as it is used and burnishes in the rubbing points after a while.

If Browning would bring those prices down to CZ levels, I would have jumped on one. I even like the synthetic stock model with the magazine storage in the butt plate.

Which would you rather have... remaining locked in battery on the last fired round or locked open after ejection?

Either is doable with basic skills and a cheap donor.

I wonder if modifying the 10 22 to a system like the Savage model 6 series would be do able.

In the savage there are two holes on the right side of the receiver (besides however many "gills" that particular model has) on many of the rifles. In some there is only one hole which functions as a bolt hold open system. The bolt handle can be pushed through from the ejection port side enough to catch in the hole on the other side and lock the bolt open on some the forward hole works the same way to hold the bolt closed when firing. One fires, pulls the handle to the right, pulls and releases the bolt handle, presses the handle "in" and repeat or leaves the bolt handle "out" and the Savage functions as a semi auto. BTW those tube feeders can use Short long or long rifle in "bolt action mode" and some will cycle even shorts semi auto. I have seen one that cycled CCI CB longs semi auto most of the time and ever time as a bolt action.

Can't imagine it would be too hard to make up a moveable bolt handle and a slot for the far end of it on the 10/22.

I notice the folks that sold bolt blockers in the past that fit behind the handle and in the ejection port and were held on with a magnet, cautioned against using any but subsonic rounds with it in place.

Are the devices in the video basically a see saw on the side of the bolt so when the rear is up it catches on the back of the ejection port?

I was going to order two of them, so I let my grandchildren shoot my 10-22 in single shot mode, until I saw the price. I'll pass.

I think this is exactly what the OP is after.

plus 1 on buying a bolt action. I can see why a 10/22 pull back might be fun though. I would just use subsonic first though.

If you want to keep it clean use brakeclean spray you just have to lube it after.I've only known of one that has worn out(from lgs talk)probably no lube...
