I guess this question fits this forum best because it is not a reloading question.

I have a Saiga Sporter .223 that is hard on brass so I am looking at buying Ruskie steel case ammo (Wolf, Prvi Partizan) for it. Current price is $5.79 / 20 rds.

What was the pre-banic price for this stuff? I'm not in any particular hurry to buy so I am willing to wait for the price to drop more if it is still above pre-banic prices.

And why Yes I am being a cheapstake.:)

That is about what it was selling for before the banic. Prices were steadily rising up to that point due to increased raw material cost, inflation, and the devaluing of the US dollar.

yep. the next question is what affect will all this ukraine business have on 5.45 surplus longterm?

I bought a couple thousand Ulyanosk (or something like that) 223 in 2009 for $3.39 per 20. Unfortunately every hoard eventually runs out....
Lesson to be learned: Ammo prices always go up.

Paid $350/1000 from Georgia Arms in 2009 (brass of course). Best I can find now is ~$410/1000 for brass.

For $410 I'll buy a progressive press instead. That's actually the plan, just need to get the wife in board for spending that much on something she can't shoot out of the box.

Yeah, but when you start cranking out ammo for her to shoot, she will realize why that was a sound investment. I have 3 ARs to feed, you have to go progressive.
