"Best" paddle holsters?

I tried this Don Hume holster for awhile. "Flimsy" its not.



Not too convenient, not easier to put on or take than a holster designed for belt use, further does not snug up against the body as a holster worn on the blet. And for me, carries too high for a longer barreled gun. Otherwise, they're great.

Paddles are not for me, but the Kramer paddle has one of the best reputations.

The Kramer paddle is well made in leather.

In Kydex, I definitely recommend Comp Tac.

Used the Galco Speedpaddle for years. Also, the Fobus paddles are great value for the money.

I have a couple of higher end Galco leather paddles. Easy to put on and you darn near have to drop your pants to take off. The little nub on the paddle will hang on tight. It will never come loose by itself.

FOBUS Kydex Standard Paddle. Have one for each of my 5 .45s. Love 'em.

Just picked up a Blade tech Revolution. I like it alot but best used for OWB carry.

The thing about paddle holsters is that they should be easy-on and easy-off. I've used Uncle Mike, SigTac, & Blackhawk to name a few. The only brand that does it for me are the Fobus paddles. They slip on/off easy, provide support with a good sized paddle that has a rubber backing, and for their Evolution model - tension adjustability.

I would not use a paddle style holster.
Years back I read a gun press article where the tactics instructor wrote he'd ask students why the holster was called a "paddle". He went on to explain that it was a "paddle" to spank anyone who thinks the carry method is a good idea.

I got a new Blade-tech Kydex paddle holster for my 4" Ruger GPNY in the 2000s.
I thought the paddle attachment would be practical if I had to take the .38spl revolver on & off a lot. Some security posts on my route mandated the guards not be armed.
Paddles are okay if you wear belt-less type pants or shorts but I don't like the IWB section that rubs my side.
In a high stress event or due to improper techniques, you could drag the whole gun/holster out too!
Kramer(Greg Kramer Leather) produced a leather holster for the MI State Police. It had a thick paddle feature & a strap to lock it onto the support belt(concealment). They had the Kramers for many years(SIG P226s).

Many polymer holsters like Blackhawk & Safariland offer both belt and paddle formats but Id set up the standard belt style. Maybe at a 15 degree or FBI cant.

I have a Galco Speed Paddle. It's well made.

Really like my comptech, it holds the gun close to the body. It also seems to ride a little higher on my hip and the gun is secure, will not fall out if turned upside down and shaken.
