The Tulsa Wanenmacher show has been on my bucket list for a long time now. Never a good time of year for me but I finally said this is the year I go no matter what. Taking the bride along, looking forward to walking and looking at guns for two days.

Share your experiences if you want. Mods, move this if it is in the wrong place. I apologize.

Yeah, I'm planning to go after a hiatus of several years. I got tired of the parking, the body odor, the rude behavior, the motorized carts, etc.

But I'm looking for a few handguns I can't seem to find online, so I guess I'll brave the madness. Then again, I live in Tulsa.

Maybe I'll ask my wife to drop me off.

Wear comfy shoes,,,
It's a big gun show so you will do a lot of walking.

I'll be there on Saturday,,,
Maybe Sunday as well.

It's like a mini-vacation for me. :)

I haven't been in several years but a few things worth noting:

1. If you see something you want, buy it now. It'll be gone later.

2. KEEP MOVING OR YOU WON'T SEE HALF THE SHOW.

3. Wear comfortable shoes and carry something to haul your great finds in.

I have heard many of these same comments make by others. Good walking shoes, keep moving and if you see it and like it, buy it. I hadn't heard about the high prices for drinks and snacks. I assume they don't care if you bring things in, didn't see anything on the site about it. It is a mini vacation for me and bride as well. I don't take much time off so this is a fun time - even though I am liable to pay the price for walking all day!

I really enjoy that show!

Make a good list for things you want so you can fill it!

I always need some parts...they have them.

I started a Thompson centerfire build and always find more stuff to add to it.

Any accessories of any kind can be found there.

If you are a hand loader or have any special interests, you can scratch any itch you may have.

If your bride has any, she needs a list too.

Have FUN!

They made a rule last time I was there that they don't want folks cluttering the walkways with carts anymore, no strollers, no suitcases, etc. So you will have to carry everything. I take a backpack.

+1 on a good backpack. They don't check bags going in so throw some food in there.

Also, take cash in small bills because individual sellers may not have change.

I would actually caution you against moving too fast. Granted, I'm pretty fit, but I usually find that I powerwalk through the show and before I know it I'm at the other end of it. It's a big show, but you'll have plenty of time to see everything if you want to.

Pro-tip for cheap(ish) ammo: Enter the building on the North side and immediately upon entry turn right and go up the stairs. You'll notice a lot of blaze orange about halfway down the length of the building. This is where they sell factory re-manufactured ammo. I have seen people buy .223 10,000rds at a time so make it your FIRST stop.

Also, I made a quick map to help you get your bearings and to mark a few noteworthy sellers.

When I lived in Tulsa I was on the FNRA comittee with Joe and we'd get a free admission ticket every year. If the Red Castle Gun Club still has a booth there tell them "Hi".
The wife and I were members there till we had to move to Kansass...

I just moved out of Oklahoma or I would be going. That was a truly neat show with about everything you could hope for. Oh well, I'll have to scrounge here now.

Thanks for the map and info everyone. The bride (40 years +) is digging out some old backpacks as suggested. I am really only looking for one thing (famous last words I know) that is a nice older S&W revolver to have as a shooter, not a safe queen. Would love a nice model 27 but prices on GB look outa sight. Maybe a 15 or 19. Don't need ammo or reloading supplies unless it is a real bargain. If I keep going I will talk myself out of going because I don't need anything! Guess we don't go to gun shows for things we need, just things we want!

"Had" to move to Kansas? Where?

I know several vendors/local lgs that go there. The expo raised their booth prices significantly in the last few years. It really had an impact on gun/ammo prices. Last time I went, there were several vendors asking $30+ a box for Remington .308 and 30-06 Core-Lokt ammo. Gun prices were basically what they sell for at the shop. The only real advantage to the show was selection. They had EVERYTHING. From .22 single shots to .30 mini guns. You could find some decent deals from individuals but rarely from vendors. Honestly, my favorite part of the gun show was the classic car show.

if your still there sunday afternoon, dont hesitate to make offers on guns still on the tables. ive got some really good bargains over the years becuz the guys just wanted them gone so they did not have to tote them out to the truck when the show was over.

I've never been to it before, but me and the wife are going to it this time. I live about three hours away from it so it's not too bad of a drive for me.

Good advice given so far. If you find yourself seeing the same people walking the aisles with you, aisle after aisle, write down where you deviate, and deviate! Most of the good deals are people walking around. You will find a large cross section of good 'ol boys, a ton of grumpy old guys, more electric wheelchairs than you've ever seen in your life, and a handful of normal folks. Write down where you left off and go sit awhile. Take frequent breaks. Aisles are numbered on each end and in the middle. SMILE!

Thank at least 10 veterans for their service.

I'm going to rejoin the NRA at the show. Last time they had a table in the foyer and I got an admission ticket along with my reup fee.

Question. Do I still have to wait in the general admission line? Or can I bypass the general admission line, go straight to the NRA table, then go straight inside?
