.22lr MEGATHREAD

Lower velocity than TAC. Runs under published velocity. I have had ejection issues other Aguila SV rounds. The stuff is made in Mexico and definitely does not match RWS quality.

I could almost stomach everything coming from China..though I prefer MADE IN THE USA...But the way they treat the workers ? No thanks. Someone should open a super store called NOT WALMART, treat the workers right and carry 100% USA made products...a niche store...oh ..and the AMMO sections is always overstocked...:D
There is no midrange and above Match ammo made in the US. Federal rebrands RWS. Remington rebrands Eley. American 22 ammo usage has moved more toward getting alot of rounds downrange fast with positive cycling in a semi-auto. Only a small minority cares about sub-MOA accuracy.

I know it doesn't help with the 22LR but the folks that are paying high prices for .380 or other calibers really need to think about reloading. I shoot my 9mms a lot more since 22lr is harder to get. I still have about 2000 rounds of 22LR but I'm saving that for my daughter's 22s.

Yeah. It does take a certain temperament to reload. I know people who have bought progressive presses, had a buddy set up everything and became just a handle puller. First time something goes wrong KABOOM. You have to pay attention. You have to check the powder level in each and every case before seating the bullet even if you have a powder checker. You have to be diligent about checking powder throws. You have to makei sure your OAL is correct and consistent. You have to make sure there is enough neck tension to avoid setback but not too tight. You have to load with no distractions.

Stock is starting to stick around and prices have been coming down in my area (and on sites like Midway/Palmetto, etc.). It is still on the expensive side, but $.10/rnd. is better than it was.

Cci mini-mags ??

Where are they. I get tons of links for available Blazers but no MINI-MAGS. I have a backordered brick at Cabelas and a backorders case a Midway.

This is the question that you, me and thousands of other shooters would like to know. Personally, I think they all leave the shelves the second they are put out. I have only seen them in 1 store 1 time over the last 24 months.

ford8nr Where are they. ....

WalMarts in Plano, Allen, Frisco and McKinney, Texas have seen steady deliveries of Mini Mags 2-3 times per week for the last year.

I've bought a couple of thousand since January.

Two weeks ago I found .22 in stock locally...premium stuff like Winchester etc. It was pricey. 2 weeks later? It's down to $7 per 50 and still in stock...many choices and plenty enough that they took down the sign limiting how many you can buy.

It's coming right again here locally I think. I admit that a month ago I believed it may never happen and have not purchased any .22 guns because of that.

Now I'm looking again. :D

Saw them once in Cabelas in the same time period. I've seen other .22LR (if not exactly plentiful amounts) but this was the first time see MIni-mag. It was last week. I bought them, of course!

Just got back from the local gun shop - he got in 30 bricks of Remington Thunderbolts (I'm not a fan) @ $29.99 - that's the most 22 he's gotten in on one shipment in a while.

The various Walmarts I visit got roughly 3 (some possibly 4) times as much Federal 550 than normal over the last 2 weeks ($23.97).

It will be interesting to see how long / how much Federal 550 shows up next delivery cycle.

If deliveries continue as they have in the last 2 weeks, it won't take long to get 22 in the hands of shooters that have been looking, and put the flippers out of business.

$12 per 100? Ouch. That's 12 cents per round, far above the 4-5 cents norm.

I hear you, though. I ordered some 22LR ammo online when I bought my son a Bearcat. It almost hurt to shoot that stuff, it was so expensive...

I don't see any MiniMags up here in the Northeast, and have not for years. It's like spotting a unicorn or something.

I hate to be mean spirited but I hope some of these guys get stuck holding ammunition they paid thousands for being worth $100 here in a few weeks.

Bad Karma but I'm being honest.

How do they treat their employees? I know 2 guys who work there and they seem to like it better than their previous factory jobs. Personally, I could not afford to shop in a store where everything was American made.

That's not mean spirited. That just economics working in our favor now.

Do what?

Thought sub-moa was the goal.

Now you can buy a decent rifle for what a few "bricks" cost.

Anyone with the capital should look @ getting a CENTER-FIRE
going for about what the .22 RF's USED to cost.

That would make a fortune.!!

It cost's me less to shoot mil-surp CF than .22 RF.
Not to even mention hand loads..

What's up with that? Sure is NOT the material.

How many .22's could you make from the same amount
brass/lead/priming compound/powder... WHATEVER from ONE
.308? then take a look @ the big magnums???
Enough in a .30-378 to make PLENTY of .22 RF.

Simple.. They got's.. we wants..

That's it.

I keep reading these posts about being able to reload for less than it costs to buy .22 LR and I just don't get it. I do reload a few calibers, at least I did until the great powder shortage of 2014 and none of them were even in the same ballpark as a normal .22. I guess that if you have owned your reloading equipment for 35 years, have an unlimited amount of free brass that someone brought to you, cast your own bullets using the electricity from your neighbor, still have powder and primers that you purchased in bulk in 1984 and have/take the time to load up a couple of thousand rounds per week then maybe you can reload .38 for $.08 or so.
I have over 20k rounds of .22 ammo that I paid less than $.06 per round for and it was delivered to my front door. This is for the cheap "plinking ammo". I have paid $.08 or so for some higher quality ammo because I have a few semi's that like it better but I don't shoot matches so I don't need supreme accuracy.
I know there are people doing stupid stuff and paying outrageous prices for 22 ammo but it is available at better prices if you have a computer. Midway had a good price yesterday on some Federal that I like but I didn't feel like trying to place an order using my cell phone and I wasn't at home.

On Mondays, I go to the local library to read a certain major metro newspaper, as well as any other errands in that part of town. This includes a stop a a LGS where I've been checking for both a Marlin 1894 in .357 as well as .22LR.

Imagine my shock when they had Remington Thunderbolt (LRN) for $28/500!! This is the first .22LR I've seen in this store since I got a box of Winchester 555 bulk (for $30!!) last August!

The T'bolts may not be that good an ammo but at least it's something to tide me over.
