Hello everyone, I just wanted to share something. I recently did some research and I found out that currently fully automatic handguns UP TO 7.65mm caliber are considered for civilian use, in my country. I don't know how I could have ignored this. you can't own a .45 ACP semi, but you can own a VZ61 with 20 round capacity and a 1000 rpm rate of fire.

This is what the law states for civilian use:

Automatic pistols up to 7.65mm caliber

Semi-automatic pistols up to 9mm caliber

rifles up to 6.5mm caliber

ALL revolver cartidges

ALL shotgun gauges.

So it's ALL about calibers. I don't know how much this will last, though. Interesting, right? You can't own a .30-06 bolt action rifle without a special permit but you can own a full auto .32 ACP.

:scrutiny: That makes SO much sense! :banghead:

BTW why are you getting a CZ75 when you could have a full auto VZ 61 to go with your nice 11" barreled vz 58?
I don't know... maybe you're right.
I thought It would be weird that your first handgun was a machinegun. But now that you say it, a VZ58 and a full auto VZ61 is a nice combo. :D

Are you sure they're talking about FULL-automatic pistols, as opposed to SEMI-automatic pistols (which are commonly referred to as "automatic pistols")?

Yes, completely sure. First because they list both automatic pistols and semi-automatic pistols. And most importantly because I asked many people that have experience with guns and gun laws in my country.

I never would have expected that. Guess ya'll are lucky in that respect. We can't own any automatics, except for NFA items that are limited and therefore ridiculously expensive, and take forever to get due to BATFE wait times.

Crazy though. Your gun laws make about as much sense as ours. Pretty much none.

In some way we are lucky, but the fact that buying for example a .44-40 lever action rifle is much harder than getting a full auto VZ61 makes no sense.

Dear gentlemen, up here, to even think about getting a handgun is considered a sin. So complicated it is repelling. You have to call the authorities every time you take it to the shooting range. Do not think about carrying it, it is almost impossible to get the special license for that. Not talking about automatic any kind of weapon at all, strictly forbidden. Semi-automatic rifles are allowed, with a 10 shots limitation for any centerfire caliber. So, in a way, I am allowed to tell you both that you are lucky!
Enjoy your automatic pistol, it must be quite some fun to shoot that kind of toy!

... so a 6.5-284 Norma Magnum is legal but a 30 carbine is not... ???

LOL. Wow.

Still better than japan, there a guy got arrested for 3d printing a few guns and shooting them with blanks.

"That makes SO much sense!"
Actually, it does. Think about it; gun laws are mostly to prevent challenges to authority, and with today's body armor, a 32acp might as well be a pellet gun. Whereas as 30-06 will go through most man-portable stuff. Makes total sense they'd have lax laws on the weak stuff. It is also common knowledge that full autos (especially with magazines as small as the 20rnd VZ61's) are not appreciably more effective than semi autos in nearly all engagements, often less effective in fact.

If I had to devise gun laws, I'd regulate barrels as the 'firearm' like most of Europe does, and tier the restrictions according to ballistic power and concealability. That seems like the most logical way of organizing an inherently illogical proposition.

If I had access to new full auto weapons, I'd be looking hard at a P90(or an MP7). But, it appears you can only get Czech weapons down there, for some reason  :D

Yes, but remember the only rounds that are legal are FMJ and then armor piercing rounds. Expansive bullets are not legal. And then you have the fact that our armed forces body armor (if they have) are junk. Just like their old FAL's.

Laws are also lax on semi-auto centerfire rifles like AR-15's and VZ58's.They will penetrate most armor with AP rounds.

And you CAN legally own high powered rifles, but you need another permit. With that permit you can own literally anything, but it's harder to get.

No such thing as a full auto pistol here, as far as the NFA branch is concerned. If it fires more than one shot when the trigger is pulled it's a machine gun, nothing else matters.

You're adjacent to Brazil; I don't suppose ya'll got Madsen LMGs like the police in Rio are still using? Not a pistol, but probably the softest-recoiling shoulder fired light machine gun ever made, and one of the coolest . Are belt-feds legal down there, and do you know if machine guns are importable? I might have to swing down there as a refugee if things go lame-shaped up here in the US over the next decade or so :D. I can probably think of worse places to be driven from my homeland.

I think a PPSH41 pistol might be a bit much, gripper; they only weigh like 10lbs empty ;)

""Automatic pistols up to 7.65mm caliber"
300 Blackout AR pistol with a SIG brace sounds good"
He said 30-06 is ranked higher than 32acp, so I imagine Blackout would be as well ;). Like I said, their laws apparently have some sense of logic behind them down there so outsmarting them seems a bit more difficult :D. I'll bet they wouldn't buy the 'arm brace' baloney, either (I still don't understand why the ATF does, since they have no motivation to . Maybe to take some heat off their Form 1 processors and their 1 year backlog of SBR filings?)

About the .300 AAC blackout pistol... You can own it, it's the ammo that ranks higher energy than the maximum. So you can own it, but not shoot it. But I think it doesn't matter if it's an emergency situation.

I think belt fed is legal. Importing machineguns can be legal if it's below 7.65mm caliber.

I've fired a full-auto 9mm pistol, it's totally uncontrollable. A .32 caliber might be somewhat better, with practice, but I'd still rather carry a standard capacity 9mm semi-auto pistol for personal defense.
