What would you do with 55,000 rounds of 22LR??

I pay more than 14 cents a round for some .22lr and have no problems doing it. It's just not Thunderbolt or anything else you can get at Walmart.

People are morons. They bid thunderbolts up to >$.09/rd?? And whats with the buy it now price at $.14/rd? He can shove that hard where the sun don't shine. This is at best $.05/rd ammo and at that volume, I'd expect to pay $.03/rd

LOL, "Reserve Not Met" :D :D LOL-ier; "Fast Sale" :D:D:D

It is indeed a seller's market. So what kind of lazy idiot can't parcel it out into smaller batches that more (any?) of the market can pay for? You darn sure can't expect profit margins selling 55k at a whack. I'm sure the guy's just showing off his stash or getting a good 'ol Gunbroker Appraisal for the nasty divorce or tax assessment he's actually raising cash for.

Hey, we all knew the hoarders would eventually have to start cashing in their chips; this is what it will look like. And if this guy actually is a distributor, he's the laziest one I've seen, since 55000 is the type of quantity distributors order themselves, making this fool a mere middle man who'll be passed over every time.

At .125 per round the seller comes out looking good. The buyer either has great foresight or ... what?

What would I do with them? Probably stack them on my closet floor. I chuckle at these auctions. I know it's a free market and people sometimes pay stupid prices for things, but I can think of a lot better places to spend that kind of money. I have no need for them.

No remington for me, worst quality ammo ever. Up to 1 in 6 or 7 of the 'golden bullets' plain refuses to fire.

For the record:
federal champion : 50 € per 1000
geco : 70 € per 1000
SK match grade 88 € per 1000 (these are sold under the wolf name in the US of A AFAIK)
As these are freely and readily available in Europe, I suppose the shortage is a importer/distributor problem, with way to high profit margins.

I wouldn't have bought them in the first place. All that much money for Remington Thunderbolts??? Really???

I actually saw .22 ammo at Academy yesterday. They had them behind the customer service counter where they limit sales to three boxes and according to the clerk they had been there all day. It was Aguila 50 ct boxes for $4.99. It's the first box of 22 ammo I have seen at a big box store in 18 months.

I agree that Remington 22 ammo is about the worst out there. I probably have 10k rounds of assorted Rem ammo and will eventually shoot it all. Probably I will have more misfires than with any other "bulk" ammo I have.
I understand buying a box of 50 .22 shells at an astronomical price. I mean, if all you have is a .22 rifle and absolutely no ammo for it then buying a box of 50 at $10 is acceptable. It's outrageous but at least you have something to load in the gun. Buying bulk ammo should be for people that actually shoot. I wonder how many people have several bricks sitting in their closet that will be doled out in their will?

Looks like someone will own it for around $7k.
I'm guessing it is a LGS somewhere who is tired of being out of .22 ammo.
He'll sell it by the brick for a little more than he paid and have customers come back to his shop.

Bloomberg needs to launch a "Guns for 22LR Ammunition" trade-in campaign. I expect that it would be wildly successful... at least among the 22LR hoarder/ fanatic crowd.

What would you do with 55,000 rounds of 22LR??

Sell it on GB for $7849?

$.14 cent a round doesn't seem to bad. Cheap enough for most people to afford.

Sorry. I still can't bring myself to call $77 for a 550 pack of the crappiest .22 lr on earth cheap.

It is serviceable for plinking purposes, don't get me wrong. I have some on my shelf. I paid $2.19/50 at Bass Pro a few weeks ago and for that price it is a bargain these days. Not so much at $77/550.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but is Aguila better quality than most?
I'm asking because I found Federal .22 lr in stock in 50 ct boxes at our Academy a couple months ago for $2.29. I got my 3 boxes and smiled.

mmmh... 14 cent/ rd for .22 LR ???? LOL

currently I can get 5.56 for roughly 32 cent / rd.

so I'd rather shoot 100 rds of 5.56 than plink away 200 rds of crappy .22LR

I've managed to sock away about 8K rounds of 22, I feel pretty fortunate about it. Still pretty hard to find around here.

I am glad to see it - this GunBroker sale makes me feel a bit better about the 250 rounds of Aguila Subsonic .22LR I just bought today for $20 / eight cents each out the door!

Iff'n I'm not mistaken, one of the alerts that popped up today by one o' those overpriced sites showed Federal 525 box of 22 for $49 - wasn't long ago this site had it for $69, and if I'm not mistaken, previously for $89 or so.

I'm seeing demand for 22 in our area starting to slow down as many folks that were looking for only a brick or two have managed to get their fill.

That's a good thing...

If I had 55,000 rounds of Thunderbolt I'd probably...put it up for auction on gunbroker for as much as I could get for it. Or maybe set up a table at a gun show and sell it for $90 - $100 a brick.

Preferably about 12 months ago when the .22LR mania was pretty much at its peak.

This guy got about $50 a brick, about a $30 profit over current retail when you can find it. Call it $3,000 profit.

I'd buy another gun or two with that.

Hey...if I had it and other people wanted to pay me big bucks for it, who am I to argue?

;)

What would I do with 55,000 rounds of .22? Probably stash it and go looking for more. They say hoarding is a mental condition or something.....

I can reload 38 spl cheaper than that. Who are the people buying a 7 cent round for 14 cents? I have a 2007 Chev Duramax for sale for exactly twice what it's worth, $45000. Any takers?
