it's that time of year again!

shot this little guy today at 100 yards. flies don't have much meat on them but they're fun to shoot.
I actually shot 2 for 2 but just winged the other. Only a tiny spec of guts, not worth taking a pic of.

here's a beetle from some time ago unlucky enough to be walking across my target.

What pistol were you using? I find my Glock 17 good for 100yds but at 125yds it just doesn't cut the mustard. Of course that is with FMJ if I use SWC I can manage 150yds on a good day.

Last year I took the wings off of a wasp. Wish I could share the pic but that phone got broke about the same time I broke the vent in my truck. Lesson learned, don't throw phones in anger.

this is what's left of a fly that landed on my target. cz455 .22lr @ 50yds.

nice! several years ago i started a topic about this and a lot of people posted pics of bug guts. i shoot mostly in a cow field so there's no shortage of winged beasts.

You must have a darned good scope to see a fly on the target at 100 yards and an even better shot! I have to satisfy myself shooting pine cones from the trees on the other side of the valley.

I used to be good at shooting wasps with my BB gun when I was a kid, good enough I never got stung by 'em.

No pictures, but one of my favorite things to do is to shoot wasps when they land on water for drinks.

There is a nice concrete creek crossing on our land that is nice and shady with a good sized pool on one side. Wasps love the area, so there are always plenty of targets. It's a good way to kill an afternoon with a .22 handgun, especially when it's 105 degrees out here and my main range is in the sunshine. It's a solid ten degrees cooler in the creek bed.

Besides, shooting wasps with a handgun is pretty good practice.

Thats good shooting.with a pistol i could not hit one because i shake to much now. With a rifle i could never tried but have shot the cherry off of a cigarette

You people are shooting insects!?! I am going to have to step up my game! Just don't shoot any honeybees. We need them and they are dying, well, like flies. Flies? Shoot as many as you can!

Unfortunately I don't have the nice backdrop of a white piece of paper to display the carnage, but this is the most fun I've had shooting in a while. Distances range from 3-10 feet. I prefer Winchester or Federal shotshells that are the brass crimped style. They have considerably more power and payload than the CCIs.

These vermin picked the wrong front porch to bore in. I've probably gotten at least a hundred this spring.
