I've been reading through pages upon pages of hypothetical scenarios, "What to use for..." threads, "One time I had to pull my gun" threads, "Fight for CCW!" and other related stuff.

So what I want to know is, approximately how many of y'all with CCW have had to use it? By that, I also mean drawing the weapon in a sticky situation without firing. And LEOs, please refer only to off-duty cases.

I'm just curious, that's all... you don't have to give details of your situation(s) if you feel uncomfortable.

I've only had my CCW about 7 months and have not had to use it. There have been times I've been very glad to have it, and other times I've had to leave it in the truck. I hope when I answer a thread like this in 10 years I've still not had to use it! :)

I'm glad my right to bear arms is recognized in this country. It's detailed in the Second Amendment, I carry a copy of The Constitution in my wallet.

Never actually had to draw, but I did put my hand on the grip in a way that left no mistake as to what I was doing once. Very tense moment at 3:00 AM. Just he and I within visual range.(30 second stare down before he backed off. No verbal exchange.).

Have a good friend that had to pull his once. No shots fired. He got cornered by three guys on a trail on a mountain. They got to walk out barefoot, because he took thier shoes, and told them not to let him see them following him.

Funny to hear about, but he assures me it wasn't funny at the time.

I've had my CCP for many years. I haven't always carried full time, but I've been carrying for a long time. I've never had to draw in a defensive situation. I don't live in a high crime area, but there are times that I'm very glad I'm armed.:uhoh:

My most recent firefight was three years ago. Arsonists. I was overnighting at a friends house. I heard noises and looked out the window as a Molotov cocktail was thrown. There was a serial arsonist operating in the neighbourhood. I had my friend arm with a couple of long guns and I ran outside to see how bad the fire was. We were talking by 2-way farm radios. I told my friend to call 911 as something was burning brightly. This turned out to be large round bales of hay. At this moment a guy went across the field in front of me and threw another Molotov cocktail which went up pretty close to me. I ran and jumped on my motorized cayuse and took off in pursuit. A truck suddenly came up out of a side road and the arsonist jumped in the back. I saw him rise and try to light a third Molotov cocktail. I stopped, drew my Taurus 66 and emptied it. I reloaded and the truck spun around and the Molotov cocktail was dropped. The arsonists were NOT heard from again. The sheriff wasn't upset at all. Name and address, have a nice day.:)

Would not be granted one by my state of residence and am waiting for my non-resident one to arrive from Florida. Should be any day now...

It's a trucker thing.

I never have got a CHL. Why? Well I should, but it will not do me much good. The reason is because I am an over the road truck driver. That means no guns in the truck thanks to federal law (and they do check). After the AWB is up, I am shifting my interest to getting a nation-wide CHL. I think just about every truck driver in the country would back a bill like that.

Do you think gun owners have it bad? Try being a gun owner and a truck driver. We catch hell from every angle. (Sure you can't carry in CA, try going 55mph from LA to Redding on top of that).

Have you ever been to the City Of Compton at 2am on a Saturday? How about downtown Chicago, Philly, New York City, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, That sh*t-hole they call Boston-Market.....This list goes on forever.

I bet you are thinking I'm nuts for going into these cities this late, armed with a maglite and a tire knocker? But you do what you gotta do. I hate the big cities but I love the open road.

I'm not trying to lay a guilt trip on anyone and I'm not crying or whining, just letting you know what we truckers have to deal with on a regular basis.

But when we do finally get to our destination most of the big cities will not even allow us to idle the truck. $200+ plus fine for environmental pollution, so you freeze your ass off or you burn up. You damn sure don't leave the windows down.

Its like Clint Eastwood said in the Outlaw Josey Wales "you gotta get mad, real mad

No CHL (yet)

have to take a class in order to exercise my right. Class is scheduled, ccw paperwork will probably be submitted the next day.

only downtown philly and chester at 2 AM. Being a college student i am similarly dissarmed.

In PA???? You don't even need carry permits there LoL. Don't tell me you're worried about some college's weapons policy roflmao.

I'm with clubsoda on this. A guy down the street was expelled for having a machete in his apartment. I'm not going to risk it this close to graduation.

I carry when I can, and haven't ever used it.

This is Finland. CCW neither available nor necessary.

BTW, angrywalkindude, I just read a story about Swedish truckers... it's become a trend to have a dog riding shotgun (pun intended). :D
