It's the "deal of the day" $699 with 4 mags, I am tempted to buy 2 for that price. Some retailers are getting double for them, "well close" $1200.00.
But in my research, I see they are for sale , pretty much all over the new and used market, for 650-750. So is this gun really worth picking up, or is it just an overpriced Sig 1911? Let's try and be factual, don't let the brand get in the way. I have been rattling this around since last night when I saw the deal pop up. Who has one, and what were your experiences with it? , I figured at this price you can't really lose money on it. Comparable guns are around 8-950, even on sickguns. It's $699+5 dollars shipping and my guy gets $30 for the transfer, so for $734, is it a no brainer?

Is this the model you're looking at?

Is this new, or used? Perhaps, "Used-Being-Passed-Off-As-New?"

I've never made any large purchases on-line, because no matter what it is (electronics, optics, cars, jewelry, guns, etc), if I'm shelling out that much dough, I want to see it, up-close-and-personal, and I do not trust "description capsules" (nor tiny photos) written by someone motivated by a sale.

I have nothing to say against the gun itself, but this deal looks too good to be true.

And when it comes to buying sight unseen on the internet, I think that things that seem "too good to be true, " quite often can be.

Yep that's it, they have been around for a while now in varies configurations. If u look in specifications it's $1213.00, so knowing it's a Sig, and their reputation, it kind of seems like $699 is a steal, look at www.Slickguns.com. You will see all of the popular gun stores that many here frequent, like Kentucky, Buds, Grab a gun, etc. It's definitely a deal.
As for the other thing, I have been buying most things off the internet for many years, Other than TV's, only for the service aspect. But it's really the same thing, when you deal with places like Amazon or Buds, you will get what you ordered, "as long as you know what it is before hand". But all of my stuff like shoes, electronics, ammo, phones,I get online now.
Sometimes I will go to a store just to see what it looks like, but if it's 20-50 % less on line it's a no brainer. Guns I haven't done that with mainly because if it's not a new gun, I have to see and feel it. But NIB a SIG should be pretty much the same anywhere you buy it, like car.
My neighbor just got a Dodge Ram Hemi, online, 2 grand cheaper than the dealer, and they gave him more for his trade and picked it up, he never even left the house, lol

Apart from the typical drawbacks associated with a sig 1911? The draw backs to sigs are sub optimal extractor design (see http://modernserviceweapons.com/?p=1697 ) and a slide profile that makes holster choices more complicated.

That said the tac ops packs in a lot of features for that price range. Its too bad its not a tac ops traditional. That would remedy issue number 2 above (and they are IMHO just much better looking). That is not a bad price for what you get though. They have good internals. Apart from the external extractor you can't touch a 1911 that is as well built for $700. Its too bad it has the extractor design it has. For a recreational gun it might be worth the gamble.

Looking at the ad, the pics all lool like stock photos anyone could crib from the internets.

I, personally, would want to see some good, hi-resolution pics of the actual firearm being sold.

Don't get me wrong; if legit, this appears to be a very sweet deal. Again, my reservation says nothing for or against the make/model of firearm.

But it looks just a little too good to be true, even if I can easily imagine lots of reasons why a high-$$$ piece like that might be going cheap from a specific dealer (overstocked and wants to liquidate, cash-flow problems, etc.).

Keep your eye on that site, it's deceiving because once a gun sells out, it is removed, check the box that says "see expired deals". There were 3 ads for Kimbers The TLE, in Classic, pro and ultra, as low as 805, they sold out in hours, along with a S&W 686 for 699, which isn't that special, but real hard to get your hands on. Also they had a nice Talo S&W 38 642 and the Gunsmoke, along with all 3 Walther PPQ's including the "navy" for cheap. If I remember around 6. But you have to keep the app open or they are gone, and you never saw them come and go
They had the Sig C3 for 599 one day and I hesitated and it was gone in 15 minutes..

Not familiar with that business but I do own 2 Sig 1911's. I believe they are 2 of the finest 1911's I have ever owned. If I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

While it's heresy, I prefer the external extractor, if designed correctly; there's a reason nobody's designed a pistol with an internal extractor lately....

And my Sig 1911 (a Nightmare Carry) has proven completely reliable, and an excellent 1911.

The argument would be the external extractor on Sig 1911 is not "properly designed." The real issue seems to be that if you get a sig with issues related to the extractor it is not easily dealt with. With a traditional internal extractor one can. Many would argue that if you wanted an external extractor the S&W version would be better.

It also appears that the linked gun may not have a magwell like other Tac ops guns. It may still be a good value though.

I have a sig 1911. I have not put enough rounds through mine to have much meaningful input (as if a single gun would be that meaningful even if I had).

And my Sig 1911 (a Nightmare Carry) has proven completely reliable, and an excellent 1911.

Round count and other pertinent info to give context to that statement?

If anything, it doesn't say Union Switch and Railway on it.

Quality control in manufacture of firearms, and how the gun was treated by a previous owner all lead to one thing - you have to buy the seller and determine if it's a trustworthy deal. If the evidence points to him being a straight shooter with no quirky terms or poor feedback, then proceed with the assumptions of fact as presented.

There's still no guarantee that definitions or terms are exactly what you think they are. One or the other of you may have subtle understandings of things that are biased more toward on side than the other.

If the gun seems to be what it is, and the price right, ok. More than that, none of us can really say, other than the obvious cautions about any specific model and it's general asking price - which is easily researched on the web and even that specific site.

To be 100% reliable and believable the buyer has to do all that research. Asking others just adds another layer of interpretation and slants the conversation.

I have the Nightmare version of the Sig 1911, which is essentially the same gun but with a rounded butt and it's a great shooter. Very accurate, reliable, and just plain fun to shoot, and actually light enough to serve as a carry option. I've never experienced any fails with it through about 600 rounds so far. It's much more reliable than my M&P45, which experiences the fail to feed problem regularly (seems to be the M&P45 curse...). For under $700 I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Sig at all. If you priced out all the upgrades it comes with over a basic 1911 I think you'll be impressed yourself.

I paid about 750$ for mine a few years ago (gun show) came with a laser and two mags ,nice gun shoots well that's a good price !

The downside is it will be worth $500 after you buy it. Sig is poised to become the largest firearms mfg in the world. They have literally flooded the market with every conceivable type of pistol they can dream up and are trading on their 90's reputation. Used guns are everywhere. I have a suspicion that Sig will become the new GM of pistols.

I have a sig XO with the external extractor. It extracts just as well as my clackamas kimber custom. I have read of the early sigs having extractor issues but that was years ago. I think they have worked that out.

Most of Sigs guns are now in the <1K price range.

Only about a third of them are over that.

Some are in the $500 range.

You get what you pay for..... if you're lucky.

Dang, I just checked out their website. This is the one that really interests me: http://www.slickguns.com/product/howa-hogue-30-06-gameking-combo-22-black-506... $431 shipped for a Howa 1500 with a $150 scope on top. These are at a LGS for about $600 OTD, and I just bought one this morning from Bud's for $490 shipped. That was the best price I could find, but obviously didn't know about Slick Guns. :uhoh: If this is any indication of their deals, then I'd say that Sig is probably a steal.

I love all my Sigs. Compared to Kimber you get sooo much more for less money. I have both but Sigs are the best in that price range IMO.

$699 is a great deal. I paid $650 shipped for a sig 1911 nitron rail TAC PAC and thought I stole it, so for $50 more you are getting the same gun but with a magwell, night sights, and ambi safety....now that's a steal.

I just did that "extractor test" with mine with 27 rounds instead if 16. It passed with flying colors, then chewed a 2 1/2" single hole 25 shot group at 25 yards, so don't let the external extractor throw you.
