I have a Citori that has stubborn tubes installed. I am hesitant to apply too much force to remove those older standard Invector tubes. What say you? Thanks...

PB Blaster shot in from outside edge so it can get to threads. Also, when ya tighten chokes, they just need to be tight, not Farmer Tight.

after soaking for a good while as described above,Get a choke tube wrench that has the 3/8 in socket hole in it like a rem choke wrench. insert a short extension in your rachet wrench and turn while holding in the barrel firmly in padded vice. if it won't break loose try tightening it just a smidge. too much torque could destroy things! be careful.

if that doesn't work try heating it up with a heat gun or hair dryer, then try again. if it still won't come out gunsmiths usually have a special tool that may work??

best practice is to grease the tubes often so they don't get stuck!!

Kroil will also work.

Another trick to try is freezing the barrel ends and then using a choke wrench to try and loosen

Different approach is to use heat from a hair dryer - NOT a torch or paint heat gun - to try the opposite approach.

Lastly, try to tighten them just smidgen. Sometimes going that way can break them loose for removal

If and when you get them out, use some grease or never-seize on the threads to avoid repeating this scenario

I've always used Hoppes #9 Choke Tube Lube with Teflon, and never had a problem. Comes in a little 2oz. spray container and lasts a long time, but like was previously mentioned Kroil oil will suffice, however that little spray can sure does come in handy.

First off, I'm very careful about not over tightening them in the first place, and second is I clean the choke and barrel threads after each shooting session, and then I always remember to put a light coat of oil on the choke tube.

As for removing one that already stuck, I had a buddy with one stuck in his 20 ga. Citori. We oiled things down real well, then we stuffed crushed ice in the barrel end, and then applied heat from a hair dryer to the outside, it came right out. But the problem appeared to be primarily caused by dirty threads, more so than being over tightened.

For seriously stuck tubes, a nice long soak in pb blaster along with a bit of thermal shock...boiling water and a hard shot from a co2 fire extinguisher will typically break it loose, if not there's always easy outs if you manage to strip the spanner wrench slots.

tighten first

Once Ounce has a good idea. Try to tighten it first, just move it a hair. I've done on a stubborn Browning OU and it broke it loose. Since then I've always backed off a shotgun with choke tubes a little after shooting.
