A CZ75B in 9mm would round out your collection nicely, I think.

I like some variety in my life. As you have other 1911s, I'd be inclined to fill the hole in your collection left by not having a hi cap 9mm. I dont have much interest in AR pistols, so I voted against that. Hey, you wanted opinions, right?

If you sold them or traded them, why get another one?

How about a Sig 227, or an XDm, or CZ, or a HK45, or something other than a 1911 to go with that ammo.

I would go with a 1911 if it were me.

Gotcha. Yeah, a $1000 can get you a nice 1911 if you watch for a sale.

Sig M11A1. Good enough for the Coasties, good enough for me.

Sig 226. Been there, done that, came home and bragged about it.

Both are good GTW (Go To War) 9mm pistols.

Why not a Just Right Carbine in .45 ACP!

Takes Glock mags, AR parts and furniture, weighs the same as an AR carbine, picks up some power with a longer barrel, and you've stockpiled ammo.

AND...theyre under $1000. Enough left over for an optic.

I second the CZ vote

You will find two things

1) It is one of the finest shooting 9mm out there
2) It tends to feel like a 1911 in grip and weight

I personally own the CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical - 18 + 1 capacity...very sweet

For the 9mm a couple of different pistols will do you right. So, in my order of preference:

1. Walther P99AS, or Walther PPQ (M1 or M2, your preference). Striker-fired polymer gun, great ergos, and best out-of-box trigger in a striker-fired pistol. The P99 and PPQ M1 use the paddle-mag release, which some people don't care for. The PPQ M2 uses the more traditional push-button mag release.

My P99 is my go-to 9mm gun.

2. CZ75 or 85. Good ergos, all metal, drop-hammer, good quality fit-and-finish. Solid, reliable.

3. Taurus PT99/PT92. All metal, drop hammer, Beretta clone. Taurus moves the safety/decocker from slide to frame, which I (and, judging by forum comments, many others) prefer. The PT99 has adjustable sights; the 92 uses fixed. Good quality (in spite of Taurus' reputation), dependable. I let my -99 go becuase I got bored with it. It was a reliable tack-driver. :banghead: Silly, I know.

First Choice is a Dan Wesson Valor
Second Choice is a Browning Hi-Power
Third Choice is a CZ 75B
Fourth Choice is a Sig P228

I own nice examples of the first three, I used to own the fourth, and I plan on getting another "fourth" this weekend!

I just bought a SIG SP2022 in FDE from Firearms For Sale for $439.99.
Unfortunately, I was about 2 weeks early - SIG now has a rebate on any of their centerfire pistols - 2 free magazines and a pistol bag.

You could do a lot worse than the SP2022 - the price / rebate is just icing on the cake!

You dumped the 1911s for a reason. Insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. You wanna really have fun with that .45acp? Get a single action revolver, like a Blackhawk convertible in .45Colt and .45 acp. It'll really put a smile on your face.

Browning Hi Power, Unless , that is , you want a real bargain ... that would be an all stainless 3rd generation Smith 9mm.

I'm another one that would say go with a Browning Hi-Power. But a word of warning, they are like potato chips you won't want to stop at one.

For .45 - a buddy of mine bought one of the .45 AR uppers from Mad Machinist and put it on an AR lower that he already has. It uses a removable mag adapter so the lower could be put back into use with 5.56 or another caliber. But it does shoot nice and looks nice too. That would help take care of looking for something in .45 to shoot up the ammo you have.

I forgot to mention in my previous post but the 45 AR upper my buddy bought is set up as an SBR (yes he did it legally, lol). I can't recall which length barrel he went with - but when I visited his house a few weeks ago it was a fun gun to shoot.

As for an AR pistol in 7.62x39 - why not just do an AK pistol instead?
