What is a good price for 500 55gr FMJBT .223/5.56 projectiles?
I am considering getting 500 shipped for about $60.00. They are new not pulls or blemished bullets. Is this a good buy or is it about normal??

The pulled and surplus stuff usually runs around $50/500 so I see no reason not to buy new @$60/500. Are they name brand or no name bulk?

In the end it's how they shoot that matters...

Again, check Wideners.

$49.00/500 plus shipping.

$45.00/500, free shipping in lots of 5000.

Those Extreme bullets look good too!

Powder valley selling 55g hornady fmj or soft point $50 for 500, not sure on shipping

NWcity's midsouth 1000 count bullet link was the one that I was going to post, though the extremebullets one is nice too. especially with the first time buyer free shipping coupon. If I had money I'd buy a thousand. of course, I don't have any powder to load them with..... :(

ive seen new 55gr for 86/1000. If your on facebook, theres a lot of guys selling bulk on there. but buying and selling on facebook comes with its own issues. ive bought and sold on facebook, and have not got burnt yet.

Hmm... offhand it sounds good. I ordered 500 once about a year ago but I can't remember how much they were now. Maybe 69.00? I'm still fooling with them, they're soft and I've been lobbing them with small charges. Is it a "house brand" like dogtown?

+ another one for the X-treme 223 55 gr FMJ BT's. I've been very pleased with them. Price is awesome. Dimensions (i.e length & shape of the nose/ogive) way more consistent than the Berry's 223 55 gr FMJ's I also tried.

On par with bulk Hornady, IMO...

Xtreme is tough to beat for both quality and price in my experience if your just looking at a fun time target bullet. They are quite accurate and consistent. I think I paid 39$/500 last time I bought from them. They've been doing a free shipping thing on orders over 100$. Not sure if that is still on.

The X-treme (and Berry's) 223 FMJ's are just that- Full Metal Jacket, even though they are both sold by companies that sell lots of "plated" handgun bullets.

So they can be loaded to normal jacketed bullet rifle velocities. I'm using the X-treme 55 gr FMJ BT w/ cannelure for range/practice rounds, with 24.7 gr Hodgdon H335 or 26-26.5 gr CFE 223 powder for about 2,850 fps out of an AR w/ 16 inch 1in9 twist barrel. PMC / Federal / LC brass. Trimmed to 1.752" CCI #41 primers and 2.220-2.225 OAL. Light crimp with Lee FCD. (Some LC brass may require a couple tenths more powder, due to larger case capacity to get same velocity).

The recipe above cycles my gun fine, seems pretty accurate, and is not overly "hot". It's within published load data on Hodgdon's site, although they use the Sierra 55gr SP and of course don't list these bullets.

If you stay within published powder/load guidelines, there should be no problem pushing these over 3,000 fps and depending on barrel length, even higher...

For the X-treme 55 gr FMJBT, I use data from the Hornady manual for Hornady's version of that bullet.
My non-scientific testing suggests that they are comparable in performance. This means they usually hit where the gun is aimed (this is not necessarily exactly where I want them to go). Good range bullets. I need to get some more, since I'm currently out of them.
