Boker, I love them and I hate them.
I love their Plus line because they work closely with and pay custom makers and designers so they can produce (in China) good quality mass market versions of the custom at moderate to low prices. The Chad Los Banos designs, the Subcom in particular, are probably the best known. I own a Subcom Titan (the polished 440C blade frame lock with front and rear titanium handles version of the Subcom), it was a great buy at under $40. I want a Brad Zinker urban trapper, and I'm glad Boker is offering it in the plus line for under $80 street because I wouldn't use one hard enough to justify searching and paying $500+ for one of his handmade pieces. But I don't know if I can buy one. You see, Boker blatantly stole Ethan Becker's handle design, although they won't sell knives with those handles in the US. But...
I hate their Magnum by Boker line. This is their shameless, blatant rip off of other companies designs but made with inferior materials line. This is old news to many of you, but example offenes include:
Magnum Slicer:
vs. ZT-0777
Or how about the "Magnum Flat Liner Lock"
Tell me they didn't go the factory in China that makes the AG Russell Skorpion and tell them: "Hey, make that knife for us. Just make the blade with the cheapest 440 steel you can find, leave off the Hinderer lock bar stop disk, and don't worry about milling out the inside of the handles to reduce weight. Yeah, same exact milled border on the outside of the handle, same exact pocket clip."
A.G. Russell's Skorpion:
Or how about a copy of the Buck Vantage - http://www.bladehq.com/item--Boker-Magnum-Green-Liner-Folding--17590.
There are others, I'm sure, but those are the ones that just really jumped out at me.
