All the guns!
Sounds good if it applies. Say "Good night", Gracie.Enough is what your budget can afford responsibly. If you aren't putting money in your kids college fund, and taking care of your sick parent, then you have enough guns. If you have extra money that you don't need for retirement or bills, then do whatever you please.
Go back and take a class on reading comprehension. I didn't say I had any problems, only that I didn't want any. Secondly, he is computer illiterate and doesn't spend any time on the internet, but thanks for your plebian attempt at putting words in my mouth to make your silly point.Probably the cause of most of your and your buddies problems if you're taking advice from posters on an internet forum. Heck, a few of them might even be legally old enough to own a gun! kind of like taking advice from a thread on "which caliber is best" or "which gun is best".
If you're so wonderful at taking care of your extensive collection and know exactly what products work best at this, then why on earth would you even be concerned about checking even those? And pray tell, with over 400 pieces, how the hell did you even remember you HAD them, let alone know how to take them apart to clean them if they DID show signs of neglect? And if they're "that special,"Since you like anecdotes, I have one for you. I have a little over twice as many guns as your buddy, been accumulating (can't really say collecting since there's no real theme to them) them since the 60's. I just went and pulled a couple of blued ones that I haven't looked in a LONG time (over 15 years, since before my father passed away), figured they would be most affected by rust and corrosion as opposed to the parkerized or stainless stuff. They both look just like they did when they were put in the safe. No rust or corrosion on any of the others that I had to move to get to them either.
Nowadays? :banghead: Any gun that is even remotely popular, doesn't sit for a week in a warehouse, before it is snatched up by distrubitors. If you have many that have sat years in warehouses, if you go to sell any of them, it's doubtful you'll get a dime for any of them, because they're just not popular. And you sure are expending a lot of energy defending your purchases to somebody that really couldn't care less. Seems I touched a nerve. Sure you don't simply have too many and are just now realizing it?Where do you believe that they sit? I have personally purchased at least three new pistols that I can verify by the date on the purchase receipt versus the date on the enclosed fired case that had been sitting somewhere for over two years. Do you believe that they are stored in a time warp somewhere?

IMO: One can never have enough guns.
This thread caused me to count my guns. Well, there's a problem. There are 206 long guns on my Excel spread sheet. A count of muzzles shows 217 long guns. Yep, i counted them three times.
Guns will have to come out and be properly inventoried. Most have not been touched by human hands in years.
I know the answer for me the rest of you are on your own.Does anybody really know for sure?
What !Where does the Constitution say you can have too many guns?
