I have one on order that came in, my question is, has anyone had any experience with the gun at all?
Even the dealer can't shed any light on it, as he has not seen them yet. I am second guessing my decision now as I have no feedback of any kind on the gun, which I assumed I would have by now, and would hate to get stuck as a beta tester when there are so many new "working" guns out recently.
Has anyone had any experience with the gun at all, I have to let the guy know one way or the other today. thanks
 
George, I wouldn't be second guessing yourself. Bret Vorhees with Walther assured those on "Walther Forum" all is well with the machining quality etc. at the plant, and they are far removed from the PK30 quality wise.

My only concern is the trigger, 7mm travel, however if it is light it might be fantastic for its stated purpose. I just got rid of my PPS in high hopes for the CCP. I think it will offer a tad longer grip without the "extension" thing to get pinched by or impede reloads.

I clicked on this thread because I hoped someone had a CCP in hand.

I am anxiously waiting for one as I like the concept of how this 9mm works; especially for the elderly like me and women as well. My wife likes her PK 380 as it is very reliable and user friendly too. The last time I called Walther about the CCP they indicated it would be out in late August-early Sept.
 
Does it still require a tool to do a basic field strip, and have they made the gas-delay system self cleaning (or at least better than what's been tried), and does it still have an expansion chamber (read: heat source)?

Are these made by Umarex?? If not I would think it compares to the PPS instead of PK 380.

Yes, it comes with a takedown tool. I don't have a problem with that, I'm not planning on taking it apart for anything other than cleaning. I'd try Walther forums for answers to your other questions..
 
Umarex. Expect a pot metal "barrel cover". They don't call it a slide in their brochure. Isn't it supposed to sell for like $400? Expect cheap crap.
 
Walther R51? :D. AND do keep in mind that a malfunction/QC issue in a gas delay system can cause catastrophic extraction... :eek:

Wow, the ministry of misinformation is present and accounted for. A dozen responses by folks with zero time, no rounds fired, never seen one, guesses and critique. Anyone actually own one? Can we wait until they actually go on sale?
 
I am anxious to see a Walther CCP. I should have my Illinois CCW within a couple months. Trying to decide my options. Extremely happy with my Walther PPQ.

Because they own Walther. But they also make their crap guns for other manufacturers that sell them with their name on them too. Like the "Colt" .22 LR AR. Most of the "brand name" .22 pistols that look like their centerfire brothers are made by them.
 
Well I am going to pass on this opportunity for several reasons. The first of which is I haven't seen or held the gun, then there is of course the "new system", which can be a terrific thing or another R51 thing.
Even though I could probably sell it if it really sucked, I don't want to give someone else a problem, 'bad karma". So I will wait to see what the reports say, why be a beta tester for another new gun. It really is not that much lighter, or smaller than the PPQ, and honestly if you can carry the CCP, you can carry the PPQ, and have a heck of a lot more ammo at the ready.
It's seems like a Glock 26 vs a Glock 19. I can carry either with very little difference. And having no shortage of small pistols I surly can afford to wait. By the way On a side note, the H&K VP9, seems to be a large gun, larger than the P30, which eliminates it from my list of guns I am interested in.
Perhaps the P30 Vi Lem is still the ticket on the H&K end.
I look at it as you are buying something to save your life, so an extra 20% isn't that much when you come down to it, as I will always have bills to pay, so why not get what I really want.
I cut down my collection to 6 guns, all in semi auto, and all in 9mm and 45. I have a full size, a compact, and a sub-compact in each.
It took many years to get 6 guns that fire every time, and all shoot well with good triggers and short tactile resets, so why screw up now.

It's being made in the Walther plant, and will be Ulm proofed. Reports from Walther forum members who have held, and in one case fired it, are very positive. These are Walther enthusiasts, not gun industry flacks, so I have some confidence in them. That was just a sample gun, of course. The proof will be in the production guns.

Edit: not Ulm proofed, but Arnsburg, but in a separate Walther production area and by Walther employees. Apparently they have enlarged the factory so as to set up a production area for just the "real" walthers. I have hope this bodes well.

Looks to be about the right size. I'm interested but I'll wait a year or so and see how it all works out. A couple of other company's have tried to implement a polymer gas delayed blow back pistol and neither was successful. All that heat and polymer just don't seem to go together. Maybe they will add a small patch of plastic like an old mood ring. When it turns blue you have to let it cool off. LOL

The Arnsberg plant IS Umarex.

I would not expect this pistol to be of the same (extremely high) quality of the real Ulm-manufactured Walthers (P99, PPQ, PPS).

But there's a first time for everthing, I guess.
 
We shall see soon. Believe me, the Walther forum members do not have a high opinion of Umarex either. But apparently the Ulm factory was just too crowded to add another line.

FYI - the guys at waltherforums.com tend to be MORE critical of the Umarex guns than most folks out there.
 
I called Walther today and they said the CCPs are coming in now from Germany and they should be in the hands of Distributors within a month, hopefully by mid-September.
