I've never seen Federal Aluminum Case ammo before. I just picked up 4 boxes of these at the local Wally's, the price was right at $9.97\box. These sure do look like Blazers, if they shoot like Blazers, I'll pick up more of these.

I saw it for the first time yesterday. I've got 3 boxes, but it will likely be awhile before I can get some to the range for testing.

I just picked up 3 boxes myself. Wasn't paying attention and didn't realize it was aluminum. Can't reload those. But I have plenty of 9mm brass so I guess I'll see how it shoots. My main concern was will it split or cause a primer to back out.

Federal, CCI (Blazer), Speer, Fusion, Estate are all ammunition brands produced by ATK.

I would expect it to be similar to Blazer.

The local range here doesn't allow steel or aluminum hull ammo so it will be a while before I can try this stuff out.

I just bought 2 boxes in 40 S&W. For $14.97/box I'll give it a try. I didn't see any in 9mm, but wasn't looking either. What was the 9mm price?

Thanks to the OP for the heads up!! I wish I'd have known this was around, because I just paid $12 and change (w/ free shipping from SG) for some steel-cased Wolf Poly-performance 9mm, just to blast with. I'm gonna check a couple of the local WM's and grab some of this stuff if it's in-stock.

edit: after hitting the gym this afternoon, I scootered on over to the closest Wal-mart, hoping to get lucky. The counter girl was surprised there wasn't any 9mm ammo and said just yesterday she had a big section of a shelf just full of it. Today, it's all gone !!!
But she did have some of the Federal aluminum in .40 cal, so i know they get the stuff, I'll keep checking back.

I bought two boxes of the new aluminum stuff in .40 cal today. Maybe I'll be able to burn it up in my HK USPc tomorrow. While I was there I also got a box of the ZQ Ammo 123gr NATO FMJ in 9mm. It's brass cased and boxer primed yet only $12.97, not a bad price at all. Pretty comparable to aluminum Blazer (when I can find it).

As for aluminum cased ammo not being re-loadable, that is a false statement. I am not suggesting that anyone reload aluminum cased ammo, but a friend wanted to see what would happen so he reloaded ( 45 Colt ). Shot out of one of those single shot .410/45. Most were reloaded 18 time before the aluminum started to crack.

I picked up 200 rounds of this ammo and it ran flawlessly in my XDm.

I then reloaded the aluminum cases with AA #2 and 124 gr FMJ and they too ran flawlessly. The brass, I mean aluminum have been cleaned and ready for round 3 with no signs of damage if I did not step on them.

Another glad you asked. I just picked up (3) boxes of the 9mm for 9.97 a box+-. I'll try it out in the M&P and Ruger in a couple weeks. Even if it is aluminum casing, for less than 10 bucks a box, why not try it.

Federal 9MM Aluminum Case

Picked up 2 boxes at Walmart here in SD for $9.97/box last week just to try it. Shot all flawlessly in my CZ75BD. The grouping was a little scattered at 12 yards. But that was me rather than the gun nor the ammo. Grouping improved at 10 yards. Picked up 4 boxes yesterday (that's all they have at the time) and shot all 200 rounds last night in the range. As expected, no issues. Based on my experience with this ammo, I recommend it for target shooting. I don't reload and our indoor range allows steel and ammo casing. This save me some bucks since my CZ runs it flawlessly. And it is made in America.

All I buy now is aluminum cased ammo and my experiences have been great.

I've shot 45acp in my taurus OSS, 40sw in my M&P40 and my brothers 40sw Shield.

The only issues I've had was failure to extracts in my M&P40 because I had shot a large amount of steel cased ammo first without cleaning the chamber. So the aluminum casings were getting stuck just like brass would. But after a good cleaning, I've shot hundreds of rounds of aluminum 40sw without a problem.

If you still think they are bad, then please guys don't buy this stuff if you live in MI because I would rather have them all to myself. :D

I've put about 400 round of the Federal aluminum stuff downrange and I love it! Either I'm just shooting better lately or this stuff is more accurate than Blazer or WWB. Lucky for me the local WallyWorld has dropped their 3 box limit so I picked up 500 rounds of the 9mm stuff last week.

I'll have to give some a try. Previously I had problems with Blazer .45 in one of my 1911s. The extractor would just tear the rim and leave the case in the chamber. Never happened with brass, or in any other pistol.

I burned up another four x 50 round boxes of the Federal Aluminum stuff today, through my VP9 and my Beretta Storm carbine. I've been leery of running AL through a blowback operated gun but the guys at Beretta forums convinced me it would be okay. Well, it ran just fine without any issues-no split cases, no problems. And the stuff is accurate through all the guns I've tried it in.
