7.62 X 25 surplus ammo

Saw this too, also the same price as Sellier & Bellot 7.62x25 (brass cased, non-corrosive, new production commercial). Personally, at the same price, I'd go for the Prvi or S&B over the Romy corrosive mil-surp.

Outside nostalgia, I can't imagine any reason for buying corrosive 50+ year old military surplus over modern non-corrosive/reloadable ammunition if the price were similar.

I still have Romanian, Polish and Yugoslavian military surplus 7.62x25 on hand to feed my two M57s. All seem to work just fine.
However, If someone were to offer to swap their new PPU or S&B ammunition for my old surplus, round for round, I would jump right on that.

I guess the thinking is the old stuff is loaded hotter and it may be? I really do not know what is the hottest and the fastest. Never tested any of it myself. I got no reason to try to punch through armor though so I'm sticking to modern stuff. Too each their own though.

Where is it being sold? It's pricey because it just came back. Price will go down unless supply is limited.

I'm still amazed the last stock ran out so fast.
I mean, I've heard "surplus X.XX running out soon?" of various sorts for years, but the 7.62x25 seems like a very short time from when I would see surplus at a quarter the price of 9mm, to all the suppliers gone bare.
A shame, but as long as there's still new stuff I'm holding out to get a Tok.

I've nearly purchased an M-57 a couple of times. I've got about 300 rounds of 7.62tok from when I had a CZ-52 before it broke. But since the ammo has dried up to the point that it is no longer a cheap plinker, I don't really have room in my safe for a boutique blaster.

At .40 a round, I am more apt to save up for an FN in 5.7. Don't get me wrong, I think that 7.62 guns are incredible and I love the round, just not at that price.

I'm kicking myself for not buying a huge amount.

This is why I'm glad I never got into this caliber. I was tempted by the cheap ammo but unfortunately that's long gone now. Better stock up on surplus 7.62x54 before it goes the same way. It's got to run out some day.

IIRC, there's a lot of 7.62X25 out there blocked from importation. Anyone know how much is out there? Some? A lot? Mountains of it? Maybe this question should be ignored, it's moot.

I thought the same thing about 15 years ago. I traded off my Tokarev because I could find ammo for it for about 2 years. As soon as I let it go the dam burst and there was ammo everywhere for it. Now it's dried up again. Don't be surprised to see another huge batch turn up on the market again. It's happened before.
