I just purchased a Gen3 17 and after test firing to make sure it worked, and it did, I set out to do what I had planned.

This is the project so far:

Ok, this is with a 5.37" Lone Wolf extended 2 port barrel, a Lone Wolf stainless steel guide rod assembly, a Grip Force beavertail, a TMG palm swell grip, and a ghost rocket trigger upgrade. All that is left to upgrade are my sights.

Just got to the range yesterday and put 650 rounds down the new ported tube:

I REALLY REALLY LIKE THE GLOCK NOW!!!!

With the new grip and the beavertail I feel no slide bite and the grip shape/angle is greatly improved. The extra weight of the steel guide rod and extended barrel combined with ports has produced a gun that has either none or virtually no muzzle flip. Finally, the trigger is awesome with the ghost do-flicky installed. As a 1911 shooter, I still don't like the feel of the trigger safety but I will adjust. The shooting was done at 14 yards at a 4" Shoot-N-C with 147 Grain Hornady XTP Fiocchi Extrema. The second video is the muzzle flip before and after (it is hard to see a difference but believe me you can feel the difference). Finally, there is a screen shot of the porting in action.

Glock stuff....

That's slick ;).
For sights, Id consider the 3 dot night sights from Trijicon. Some like fiber optics but I think they are too fragile for hard use/duty/carry.
The green-orange HD sights from Trijicon are better.
I have factory 3 dot green night sights on my LE trade in Glock 21 .45acp pistol.
I may add Metalife to the upper. I've heard good things. The price is good & the shop times are fast from what I know.
Another recent custom firm I really like is www.blowndeadline.net . They offer Cerakote & provide lifetime service plans. The site says they now offer the new Armor-Clear surface too. :D
This mixes with the camo pattern or customer color & provides added protection from scuffs, wear, nicks, etc.
Some after market or custom surfaces like Robar's RoGard black can be very sensitive :uhoh: . I had a Beretta 96D .40 that could nick & scuff just loading rounds into it. :cuss:

Lenny Magill's Glockstore is good. I got some safety orange mag pads & a new Glock t-shirt. Note; the Glock t-shirts might be tight around the neck after you wash them.
For my Glock 21 .45acp I plan to get a Glockworx regular take-down part. It's not extended like some versions but still permits fast take-downs. I wanted to be able to field strip the pistol quickly or with gloves & the standard Glock part is awful IMO. Extended take-down parts can cause problems with Glock holsters too. :uhoh:
I plan to flip the mag release(I'm left handed). I will get a Vickers style Tangodown Glock gen 04 magazine release & slide stop/slide release. I like the way Larry Vickers(a retired US military spec ops guy & instructor) set it up.
I might get a set of Glock Ti pins & a tungsten steel guide rod from Glockstore.com . Id also add a custom match grade barrel from either Storm Lake, KKM or EFK Firedragon(my first choice). The Firedragons aren't well known but I like the QC & prices of the Glock pistol barrels.

I like Dawson Precision for sights. Plus they give you a tool for the front sight for free.

Ive spent a lot of money on aftermarket sights for my Glock 17's.
My favorites are the Glock night sights.
Unfortunatly it took about $400.00 to figure that out.
YMMV.

I put the Trijicon HD sights (green) on my 17, and would highly recommend them. Getting ready to put them on my 30S and Shield as well.

A question... did you have to adjust the sights after putting the beavertail on ? Looks like you still have factory sights.

I.e. did it point noticeably differently..
