I was visiting family localy, and they had a cousin not related to me that moved in.
On a whim he brings up that he would love to find a nice shotgun to trade his pistol for. So slightly interested I asked what he had.
Turns out to be a pistol i have read a lot about and was very interested in; the Sig Sauer SP2022 in 40 S&W. So I let him know I had an Remington 870 Wingmaster magnum with 2 different stocks, fiber optic front sight, and the extended tube for extra roumds as well as the original.

After a few days he called and said he was in, and we set the meet up for late Saturday night.
He was pleased and I was also. I have 2 other shotguns so I'm not without, one long barrel for hunting, and another short barrel set up for HD.
I was able to wipe the Sig down real quick and run 50 test function rounds through her before dark. The previous owner said he only ran 100 to 200 rounds in it and I believe him.

It ran awesome and I was amazed at the low recoil impulse from a lighter polymer pistol. The fit and finish are nice, I'm sure not quite the standard Sig 226 level, but very nice for the value! It functioned flawless with hollow points and those flat point mc 40. S&W rounds.
I had heard that the trigger on this gun was very good, especially for a DA/SA format gun. My take on it is the trigger was great, had a little take up but smooth and crisp.
The only da/sa gun I own with a better trigger is an old Tanfoglio Tz75 series 88 that was built before EAA was around.

This was one of the SigPros that only came with a single mag, but it did have the stock Sig night sights on front and back. They glowed very bright, I'm not sure how old the pistol is?

All in all I am extremely pleased with my first ever Sig Sauer, and could deffinitally see more in my future.

My First Sig To

My first Sig was a 2022 also but in 357sig. I bought a .40 barrel and shoot .40 most of the time. Love the 357sig round, very accurate but .40 is cheeper per box. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

Congratulations! I have the 9mm SP2022 and it is my bedside gun. Very reliable and I trust it.

I have the .40cal sp2022 for HD. When I first got it, I was at the range shooting it. after about 200 rounds the slide would jam about 1/2" back after firing. The fired shell would be visible and not bound up, but the slide had to be cleared by banging it nose down on the end of the steel table to release it. This would happen on and off and got worse.

I called Sig and they sent a shipping label, paid for shipping both ways, replaced the barrel and slide no charge.

Havent had a problem since gun is good to go! Sig didnt hesitate to fix my problem in less than a week turn around. I now have around 6-7 sigs, they are awesome.

be safe.

Love mine. I don't know of a thing you won't like about it.

I'm wanting a full sized 9mm and I'm thinking of another one. If I get one in 9mm I'll probably go with the desert tan version to tell them apart easily. Plus it looks cool.

Ditto. Just bought one in .40 caliber from Kentucky Gun Company, for the remarkable price of $359.00 shipped. Deadly accurate. Apologies in advance for the gruesome backdrop, but it's the only pic I have:

I shot a P220 in the late '70s and haven't picked up one since. That was a very nice gun indeed. What with all the good things said about them I may need to pick one up on our next LGS visit and see how it fits my [older] hands now.

You got a good gun there bdb. The trigger is one of the best ones around out of the box. The slightly heavier gun also helps reduce the felt recoil and flip of the 40. You'll want to practice both DA as well as SA, otherwise if you shoot too much SA exclusively, you'll think the gun will take forever to go off when shooting DA. The pull is smooth, but you have to pull it till it almost touches the grip.

if the SIG short trigger reset (SRT) is available for the sp2022 it would be worth it to get and install

i have a p229 and p239 both with the SRT and man it's a sweet DA/SA shooter
