My health issues have stopped me from doing a whole lot of things I really enjoy. Of which shooting has always been top of the list especially with my grand son. In the last couple months I have liquidated most of my collection rather than let them sit and gather dust and give a burden to wife if I go first. I have already found that some of the "AIRSOFT TYPE" guns can be very closely designed like the REAL DEAL, and today while shopping at Wally World I came across a revolver made by BLACKOPS. It is a six shot DA that looks and feels like a Smith & Wesson. Don't know the model its copied after but it does have a very nice feel in the hand. To load the 6mm plastic pellets you remove the shells and press the 6mm balls into the end the reload like you normally do. Very easy pull on DA and when cocked back the trigger is smooth, accuracy is so-so but it could just be me but I can hit a cardboard box at 25ft. Just had to share that even if you can't get out and shoot at least there is a way to continue the sport. Picture don't do it justice but gives a representation

Yessir, they do the job very nicely.
Airguns, especially the newer ones designed like the real things, are a great way to keep skills intact between range sessions.
I've been doing it for quite a few years.
It does work.
Airsoft accuracy can vary, some of them are quite impressive.
Pellet guns with rifled barrels can challenge .22 rimfire at reasonable distances.
And think of the savings in ammo and range fees.
Not to mention being able to do it without even leaving home.
Lots of serious shooters use airguns for practice.
Welcome to the fold.

I feel your pain in a different fashion. I am struggling with high lead levels so I have not been able to shoot at all for the last few months. I found this cheesy setup:

http://www.amazon.com/LaserLyte-Pli...UTF8&qid=1410986924&sr=8-4&keywords=laserlyte

I bought a set with the little blue training pistol and laser and it is a hoot. My kids love it and they even enjoy setting the cans back up for whoever is shooting.

How to Load this Toy

I was discharged from hospital on Sat, sure wish I had this while I was strapped to the bed bet the nurses would have been better. Naa I had great nurses, my doctor is the one I gotta watch every time I go to his office my next stop is hospital. But I found my camera stand, that's the only way I can take a picture that's not blurry or screwed up and tried to get pictures showing how to load the 6mm pellets in the end of shells. Really simple press the pellet in the end, load in cylinder and the CO2 does the rest. At 25ft it will shoot thru a cardboard box and come out the back side. The fake shells are not necessarily a selling point but it does keep your shot count and fact you have to reload like the real deal more in line.

I looked at the Laser Trainer, that don't look bad at all. Are the lasers avaiable in different calibers as of now I only have 3 - 38's, 1 - 380. Might have to shuffle around a few things to come up with that. Or just buy it and swear up and down that the wife made a mistake and ordered herself

Where's your speed loaders for the revolver?
Yeah, it's hard to stop at just one.
I'm up to eight air guns now.
Just when that seems like plenty, I make the mistake of watching another video review.
It's hard to say no, when a quick phone call or internet order brings them right to the front door.

First off, sorry to kind of hijack your thread, especially since you have me looking at one of those now as well:)

The laser cartridges are available in almost any caliber but they are really expensive (I think around $80). When I first bought the electronic target, I bought the 9mm cartridge. Frankly, I don't think I would buy the target or caliber specific cartridge again. Since you can see the little red dots POI anyway.

The kit that I would get is this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IOPK8UU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It looks kind of hokey but the little red laser has an adjustable tip that will fit anything from a .380 up to a .45. The only caveat is that the barrel needs to be at least 2" long. It really does work with a little bit of adjustment and it is a blast.

I don't view as it being HiJacked, to me its adding more information to guide others toward a new aspect of shooting. I have delt with BlackOps airsoft guns for while and the M4 worked flawlessly I won one of their new products that really didn't meet standards and I told them, my review was dropped fairly quick. I did own their 1911 CO2 operated and it worked as advertized. This revolver cost a whopping $59.95 plus cost of the CO2 cartridges. It has a 2 1/2" barrel so the accuracy is spotty but I can hit a box at 20ft. Shot an aluminum Pepsi can at that distant and it went in one side and out the other so don't shoot your self, pet or wife when she bends over. Do wish my speed loader was for 6 shells instead of 5. In my option I have to say the $59.95 spent was well worth it. Comes with a Picatilly rail on top but it can be removed if you wish. The Revolver weight in at 2lb 5oz on my digital scales. Loading the 6mm plastic balls only require finger preasure to seat the ball into the shell/holder. I do like the link you sent for the Laser Pistol at Amazon. After the wife corrects her banking snaffuu will be ordering one of those. I have several Pellet rifles, one can change between .177 and .22 cal but these only fire lead pellts and I really like the 6mm plastic shot. As for a super training tool , maybe not 100% but it works to teach proper grip, stance and helps to overcome the tenency to jerk the trigger. Others most likely will find more uses an/or flaws

My present favorite is the Colt licensed 1911, made by KWC.
It works just like the real thing and the CO2 blow back action recoils about like a .22 rimfire.
The weight, trigger and controls are very authentic.
All metal and quite accurate, almost as good as my rifled barreled pellet pistols.
About $100 from the usual sources.

I dig sitting in the back yard plinking with "airsoft" toys all the time. Regardless of health.

How about .22s and traps? Are they within your health limitations?

As long as the humility is not too high I do ok, still have to tote a bottle of O2 with me which limits a lot of what I do. But with this Airsoft pistol I put a cardboard box in the bathroom next to the den and just blaze away. Just don't tell the wife that sometimes I miss and 6mm plastic bbs are all over the place.

It sure beats the days when they would have been lead copper or steel:)

Every time I drive past the old house I grew up in, I kind of smile knowing that the people who live there have no idea how many various projectiles are lodged in the posts of the old wood fence out back:)

I get it, it's mostly a respiratory thing. So then walking back and forth to service targets gets old.

On the airsoftness - have you tried upgrading a bit to something scoped?

I had (gifted away) a select fire M-4 used to dissuade pigeons after seeding. Damn accurate in semi and rocking fun in full auto.
Now I have some weird M59P sniper rifle. Lots of fun and I fling fewer pellets about the yard.

Good thread, very good thread. I had never given any thought to changing my shooting habits until my brother-in-law became ill. Mike was a retired USMC Captain and like myself a devout shooter and Vietnam Marine Corps veteran. My sister could have not done better, I loved Mike.

Mike developed Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma directly attributed to Agent Orange all these years later. Mike loved high power rifle competitions and traveled all over West Virginia for competitions as well as nationally. As he grew weaker the high power became unable to do but he developed a love for 22 Rimfire and got a real nice pellet rifle he could shoot in the basement. He shot 22 rimfire matches at his local range and that pellet rifle till about his last weeks among us. I am the keeper of his Anschutz rimfire rifle and every time I take it out I think about Mike.

All of this served as a real eye opener to me. Things you never think about suddenly become a part of your life. WALKERs210 I wish you nothing but the best and thank you for bringing attention to all of this. Keep shooting!

Ron

It is amazing just how fast one can loose the ability to do simple things. Jan-Feb 07 I was feeling a bit tired, one issue was the TRUCK DRIVERS CURSE hemorrhoids. I finally let the wife talk me into going to a doctor. Well it was more than the curse, turned to be cancer. Went from a solid 180lbs down to where I am hovering now 108 - 110. In 2003 I was hit by another truck that ruputred disc in the neck but nothing that couldn't handle with a simple surgery. In 08 the fusion didn't take so doctor said let's remove the hardware and you will not be anymore for wear. While on the gurney going to OR the anesthesiologist kept coming over looking at the heart monitor when she showed it to another when he said words you never want to hear "OH SH##, then she said the others were worse. Turns out I was having a heart attack right there. 2013 I noticed I was having more problems breathing, again wife talked me into going to another doctor. That's when the lung problem jump in. The majority of my life I have been healthy as a horse, never went to a doctor and was really enjoying life with my grandson. Point being you can go from a healthy person to a total wreck in just a short time. I refuse to give up, never have and never will that is why I started with pellet rifles first and then found these Airsoft type guns. It is just another aspect of what we all enjoy. I did find a set of drawing to build a 50cal Ma Duse where if you want an AirSoft rifle can be built into it and have a 6mm full auto machine gun. The drawing show two ways to build, standoff scale or full detailed.

Well then, there ya go. Find some of those other activities in the shooting sports that you haven't had the time for before now.
Build your M-2
Learn checkering, engraving.
Start reloading for yourself or maybe others.

Definitely, whatever transpires short term - keep at those back yard plinkers to keep your touch.

Good thoughts for you and yours from me and mine.
