Dream Guns

Id have to think about it, but this would be one I would buy to really troll the ranges. Hard core pistol shooters would be all

These threads are fun for me to read, though I find that I don't feel drawn to hardware as I used to be. These days, most of my firearm related excitement comes from practice.

It's very cool to see what everybody gets excited by, though. The variety is striking!

My dream guns are:
- Full Auto AKM with underfolding stock :fire:
- Full Auto Mac 10 :fire:

...but its unrealistic somehow :banghead::D

No, I do not own my dream gun.

I want a 1st gen Colt SAA, preferably before 1890 in good shootable condition. One day.

I've always been nostalgic about the old west and I love big bore revolvers.

Fella's;

Since they've shown up more than once, the artillery Luger's that is, I thought I'd relate my experience with one. I just got to shoot it, never owned one. When I was in college a fellow T.A. with my wife knew her husband, me, was a gun guy. He wanted to shoot a gun he'd inherited & asked her to ask me if there was anyplace to shoot. Which kinda dropped my jaw a bit, 'cause it was go five miles outta town & shoot just about anywhere you wanted to.

In any case, we got together, accompanied by a friend of mine & proceeded out to a wide spot in the forest where we could shoot. I had a .22 rifle and my new at the time Ruger Blackhawk .357. My friend had his new to him Ruger Blackhawk .45 with a 7.5" barrel. Our guest hauled out the artillery Luger, in the shoulder stock holster with all the other goodies as well. The three of us put about two boxes through it. The snail drum was available but he said it made the gun very unbalanced & hard to handle so we just admired it. We did shoot the gun both with and without the stock attached. Very different sensations each way. Once we got used to the manual of arms, that was just interesting, but the trigger was horrible. It was really a neat piece of history and interesting as all get out. This was in the early 70's as I recall.

This one was definitely a dream gun. A Cimarron Open Top .44Colt that I shot and carried for several years before having it engraved and refinished in Turnbull's charcoal blue last year. The next will be a .500JRH Ruger Bisley flat-top with an octagon barrel and similar engraving.

As was this USFA .44Spl that I had fitted with Nutmeg ivory.

I've got 3 dream guns left ... actually I'd be satisfied just to shoot them because feeding them would either break me or they would just sit in the safe like so many of them do already.

Listed in order of the likelihood I'll ever get one ...

3. M-60

2. S.A.W.

1. G.E. Mini-gun

I got lucky in the past few years. Mine were a zfk55 Swiss Sniper, an honest to gosh 90 PE non-import original army issue, an original army issue P49 and a Beretta 93R.

First dream realized, the zfk55.

Second realized, the 90PE.

The third, an original issue Sig Neuhausen P49, one of the first 250 made with the A in the serial number.

And the as yet, unrealized Beretta 3 round burst pistol.

Vaupet;

I'd love to have one of those also. In the same caliber of course, I'm an ardent fan of the 6.5 X 55mm Swedish Mauser. Now, can I get one with the bolt on t'other side of the action?

Some people seem to confuse "want" guns with "dream" guns. In my mind, Any gun that can be had with little effort for less than the cost of one paycheck doesn't qualify. To me dream guns are either so rare or so expensive (or both!) that at best they are a once in a lifetime purchase. More likely they will remain nothing more than a dream unless I win the lotto. ;-)

My dreams would include a high end Sharps replica, or a custom built fusil de chasse. Both of these are minimum of $2-3000 guns.

Don't have mine yet. I need to win the lottery or sell most of my guns to get it though. I suspect it will be like several travel destinations on my " bucket" list, just a dream.

"Dream" material things are just a way of me keeping broke---be it cars, trucks, motorcycles, guns etc................the attainment was never as satisfying as the hunt

So I think I've cured myself of such pursuits and take greater satisfaction in watching my saving and investments grow.

Sure there's a few guns I want--but nothing I'll go out of my way for or try to make a stretch financially.

It seems most people in this thread get this, but I've seen many threads like this that are filled with "want guns" ...that being said, here are a few of my realized dream guns, the first two I bought with money I received from an inheritance.

The first is an M-16 ... It's an early one not an A1 or A2, came from a California prison and came with the 3prong f/h, triangle h/g and teardrop forward assist but I dress it up to fit my mood ...

Most typically I shoot it with 3-round burst in this configuration

sometimes in 9mm
P4280745.jpg

Other times when I need a real "pick-me-up" I'll pull out the burst trigger, slap the LMG upper on it and burn up a beta-mag or two

The second, I thought I wanted an HK MP5 ... I ended up buying a Fleming registered sear to put in my SBR'd semi-auto MP5 clone and I'm glad I did because although it runs great, I really enjoy it in my HK-52 clone (7.62x39) & my HK-53 clone(.223) the HK-51 clone (.308) is a bit much and I don't really enjoy shooting it in F/A ... I finally filed the e-form's for the 51, 52 & 53 and hopefully won't have the 10-11 month wait I had for he last stamps I got for some suppressors.

Another realized dream guns is the fully engraved 1957 Colt 1911National Match my wife bought me for my 50th birthday ... I was born in '57

they sell a left hand version, and they have a ambidextrous version with m4 type grip and collapsible stock.

Don't know about the bolt

They are, however, oriented to government orders.
Mr Holme, owner of the company, told me they missed out on the US military contract (FNH Ballista is actually the TPG 3) but they have the orders from the german, the swiss and the austrian army as well as some orders from the FBI.

Same problem with the Schmidt & Bender optics:

so I had to wait more then 1 year to get everything.

It was worth the wait

Ruger Mini 30, 580 type, with a wood stock and blued barrel. If we're just dreaming here, let's have it take AK mags.

Fella's;

I contacted Unique-Alpine about the very interesting gun that Vaupet was kind enough to show us. Unfortunately, they aren't able to provide their action in a true left hand bolt configuration. I'm with Vaupet in that I think that gun in 6.5 Swede would be an absolute hoot. The Swede has got to be one of the most under-utilized long range cartridges available today. Well over a hundred years old and still so very effective.
