I recently bought an H&R Pardner Pump shotgun from Bud's Gun Shop. I have been wanting a shotgun for HD and Bud's had the shotgun for $162 shipped. I could not pass up the price.

I picked it up from my local pawn shop for a $20 transfer, so $182 for a brand new shotgun is a really good price.

I read many reviews online and watched a few YouTube videos, so I decided to take a chance and buy it.

Went to the range and wanted to run a box of shells just to make sure everything worked. Everything did work well.

I took it home, cleaned it up, loaded it up, and it's ready to go as a HD shotgun.

The shotgun is pretty much an 870 clone, it is a really solid feeling shotgun as well.

For the money I don't think it can be beat. The only downside is that it is made in China. I did not realize that until I bought it.

Well Norinco is basically who is making it.

Under the Hawk Industries name. For all intents and purposes it is still Norinco.

The PP is built better than an 870.

Good pickup.

You got a fair deal. They are solid shotguns; better built than the Remington Expresses. Everything aftermarket for the 870 will fit on the Pardner except for a 870 barrel. However, there's a guy on eBay that sells an adapter that allows a 870 barrel fit on the Pardner frame/receiver.

Technically, it is a Remington. ;)

Better than an old school Remington 870, nope. Better than a Remington 870 Express with a laminated stock, thin finish, & lighter metal? Er, you bet.

Its a solid shotgun for the price. I d go for the PP vs the Mossberg 88 anytime.

It's the comments above as to why Remington had to cheapen the original Wingmaster and come up with the Express - to compete with Chinese knoick-offs. Remember that if your job suddenly goes overseas, or you find out your new jeep was made in China

i have had the pardner pump for a while now and i LOVE IT the thing has never failed i have shot rabbits and squirell and not to mention a few black snakes in the hen house.i think you have the 18.5 inch version for hd it will serve you well

I am THIS CLOSE to making that my new sig-line. No one better lament the disappearance of craftsmanship among American gunmakers while looking down the sights of a gun made by America's #1 future foreign-policy headache.

Does anyone else find it odd that Remington is the parent company of H&R, and is selling a clone of their own product for half the money?
I have to admit that the Pardner pump is better finished than the 870 Express models.

nope.

That way they can sell to the budget minded and savvy as well as the ones who don't know any better and only shop brands that have ads in gun rags.

Why does Toyota sell their said namesake as well as Lexus & Scion?

Same reason. Sell as much as you can to everyone.

I've said it before but to me at least...there is no reason to buy any pump other than a PP(982) other than a Browning BPS. Even then the only one I'd consider is their Trap model.

There's affordable labor, and affordable US-made guns. However, they will not be as cheap as the Chinese stuff where folks make in one month what you make in one hour. In today's climate, I do not think that $2-$3oo for a US pump is a bad deal, and if that means the local tire store is able to sell that worker some tires and stay open, and the local pizza joint can feed his family on Friday night, etc., that that is a bad thing either

This statement is true now more than ever:

The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price has faded from memory.” - Aldo Gucci

I had a lot of issues with my PP at first (20ga youth, $178 Walmart special) but with 6-8 hours filing and polishing I finally got it working smoothly. I could have sent it in but was told it was a 3 month backlog at the time, apparently mine was from a run where they had issues with the loading mechanism. Mine is now almost as smooth as my mossbergs, but the youth pp is heavier than both my full size 500s. I shoot it well enough and my wife likes it so it's a keeper. Glad they ironed out their issues quickly.

Dermody cites a few proprietary changes to the 320’s manufacturing techniques compared with how Winchester was making the 1300. But the crux of the strategy is cheap labor. Unlike the American-made Savage line of rifles, Stevens shotguns are imported. The 320 is made in a newly constructed facility in a remote region of China.

“When you start talking about the prices we hit with Stevens, importing is really the key to pulling it off,” Dermody explained. “We haven’t yet figured out how to hit those targets domestically with a product
like that."

Don't buy it... You are selling out our 2nd amendment for a few bucks.

Gca of 1968 gives the attorney general huge discretionary powers. One of those is banning imported firearms... So yeah, you really our selling out our rights.

What about Berettas, Benellis, Franchis, Stoegers, Brownings, Winchesters, CZs, Huglus, H&Ks, and everything else made elsewhere besides China? And before someone tells me Berettas are made in Maryland, look at the shotgun production numbers reported to the BATF last year. Most of the shotguns are coming from somewhere else. Browning/FN has never made a gun, much less in the U.S.
I like the idea of American made, but our glorious government is working harder every day to make it harder to make anything, including a buck, in America every day. NLRB and Union issues, EPA regulations, discrimination studies and rules, handicapped parking and bathrooms, OSHA - the list is endless. If it feels good, do it, is extremely expensive.

I had one with 28" barrel...solid shotgun but a bit heavy. I'm amazed that folks complain about their neighbor buying a Chinese made $200 shotgun, then turn around and buy a $1500 Benelli
