Hi all!
I have a SMMG dedicated .22 upper for one of my AR build outs. It just plain doesn't like to fee remington .22 properly.
Anyone else have this issue? It's the 550 bulkpack, green box that I was shooting with my son the other day....

It either jammed on the way into the chamber, or it wouldn't fire after being hit with the firing pin.... I've never seen so many duds in my life :-(

I gave up on Remington rimfire ammo a long time ago. On average, with a 10 round mag, I was extremely fortunate to get 3 rounds to fire, though not necessarily in sequential order. Frequent failure to feed, eject, fire, etc. made for a most frustrating time at the range. I would suggest trying some other brand of .22 ammo and see if you still are having problems with it.

Thunderbolt jams in my Savage bolt action, Marlin 795, and even the 10/22. Many misfires as well.

The "new and improved" Bucket o' bullets I got loads more reliably, but still not as good as other bulk ammo. It fires fine, however.

yah, this box was a few years old for sure... the box of winchester I have shot and fed a lot better, so I know it's not my rifle at least :)

I'm gunna stay far away from Remington from now on.... it's always been kinda dirty anyway...

Green box sounds like Remington Thunderbolt, which has a notorious reputation for jams, misfires and any other problem plaguing rimfire ammo. I use American Eagle for my .22LR ammo, which is the budget line from Federal. I have never had any problems.

I found the Remington .22 LR ammo I bought in a bucket (1,600 rounds) to be the worst of the always cheap ammo I buy for my rifle. It is dirtier, and I also experienced feeding/ejection malfunctions, failures to fire, but much worst in my opinion, it was the least accurate in my rifle. I currently run Winchester 333 and prefer it, even though it is not match ammo :)

I have an AR 22 built with a CMMG bolt carrier and barrel. It is very sensitive about hammer style and spring weight. I ended up setting up a lower just for the 22 upper.

Its also very sensitive about lubrication. It took some time to get it sorted out and running smooth. I think it was worth the trouble.

Now it runs well with pretty much any 40 grain bullet, including Remington.

Yes my 22 rifles don't like Remington ammo either. Tje thunderbolts are the worst. I have a Remington 550rd bulk pack i keep for emergency shortage only lol. Wish I could trade it lol

"...just plain doesn't like to feed Remington .22..." It has nothing to do with your rifle being a conversion. .22's are just like that. You have to try a box of as many brands as you can to find the ammo that both shoots well and cycles the action.
