When I carry a gun

and I always carry a gun, it is a 1911. It can vary between a Kimber Ultra carry, to my Kimber Tac pro II, but most often it is my Kimber Eclipse Pro. I recently traded my blued Ultra, I still have my stainless Ultra, for a Kimber pro CDP II which will join the rotation. All my 1911s ride in my Milt Sparks VM-II and are accompanied by a pair of spare mags worn in a OWB double mag carrier on my left hip. My knife choices vary between Kershaw blur and several other Kershaws to my ZT which is the one I carry most often.

The Milt Sparks VM-II was new at the time and shows a lot more wear now as does the Tac Pro II which has had it original finish as well a Duracoat finsh worn off which is why I now carry the Eclipse which also isn't quite as pretty these days.

A couple more pics

Here are a couple photos of my new CDP and my stainless Ultra in my well worn VM-II along with my current knife of choice. IMG_20141012_105619539_zpssh5am90v.jpg

Kimber ultra in a left handed Milt Sparks Paddle holster for those days when you just need a little extra protection.

What is it exactly?
A Targa GT27. It was made in Italy by Tanfoglio and imported to the US as parts to be assembled by Excam in Florida as an end run around the 1968 GCA. The FIE Titan is the same thing and a good source of magazines.

I'd like to eventually get a PSA basic blue but that's $700. This was $100. It does what it's supposed to do and I'm aware of it's limitations.

And when you show up to the gunfight with a knife, I'll still have a gun. Not much of one, but a real gun. And you will still only have a knife...

I know what I am doing when I carry it.

Do you?

G19 in a Crossbreed Supertuck, Leatherman Wave (420HC) on a belt sheath, Buck Odyssey (also 420 HC) clipped in pocket, Coast PX25 flashlight. Wallet phone and keys ...

.25's are cool, until you need a gun. Then they are only slightly more "cool' than a derringer or mini-revolver, which is to say, really poor.
I dunno. My dad isn't a "gun guy". His weapon of choice is a little bitty .25. He used to be able to knock over small match boxes at 15 yards with it. Only stopped shooting it because .25 ammo all but disappeared from the shelves. It's actually rather comical to see this big burly 6' 225 lb man shooting this mouse gun, but he was surgical.

My maternal grandfather fended off more that one attempted home invasion with nothing more than a snub nose .22. 5'4 130 lbs soaking wet, but back when he could see well he could dump 6 rounds in an apple sized target in short order.
Why a .22? It's all he could afford.

A .380 is as small as I go, but I wouldn't want to look down any barrel no matter how small and "not real".

These days Im carrying S&W model 60 J frame in my pocket. I was carrying my Glock 19 exclusively but have been having gallbladder issues. The pain of IWB or AIWB has influenced my carry greatly. I feel well armed with a 5 shot J frame. I know the gun is capable and feel as I am up to any task that may arrive. I shoot my 60 better than any J frame I have owned.

Two primary pistols in my rotation.
STI Guardian (9mm) in a Crossbread Super Tuck Deluxe IAB holster
STI Rogue (9mm) in a custom TT Gunleather IAB holster
