chuckpro, I suspect TennJed knows the HK is a DA/SA gun that can be carried cocked and locked, which is why he made his comment. He is looking for Single Action Only guns, not a DA/SA gun which is what you recommended.

JTQ , All USP and i think the HK 45 that are V1 can have a plate put in them to make them SAO for about $10 it just removes the decocker function. It makes them a V5 or something depending on the frame. I just brought this up because most people are not familiar with this and i think the HK's are worth looking into for someone looking for a SAO.

However, didn't this comment confuse the issue for a guy looking for a SAO gun…

No on a V1 you can carry it locked and cocked. So to fire you would just push the lever down to the first catch which takes off the safety. To decock requires pushing down even further like a decocker on a Sig.

Is it a SAO gun, or really a DA/SA gun that has a safety and no decocking lever, like a CZ75B, that will allow SA operation.

Picky, picky.
I find it hard to think why I would use, or be confused by, DA linkage in a gun that had no mechanical decocker but was available with one if I wanted it.

(Not the same as a CZ75.)

Yes.

The H&K V9-10 is functionally like a standard CZ75. If you want the hammer down, you have to ease it down with a finger on the trigger.

But WHY? If you want to swing both ways, the V1-2 has both cocked and locked and decocker capability. I think they did it wrong, it ought to have had up for safe, down to fire, WAY up for decock. But they put decock down past fire and if you get on the safety too hard, you can end up with an inadvertent decock. Seems not to bother anybody but me and gunzine writer Ray Ordorica, though.

I think that's why they have the V9/10. For those that ride the thumb safety and end up decocking the gun when they don't want to.

I recall a Hilton Yam review of some .45 Auto launchers, one was an HK USP .45. At the time, as primarily a 1911 shooter who rides the thumb safety, he found during strings of fire he would not only decock the gun, but get the gun into somewhat of a "no man's land" where the trigger was disengaged. I don't recall what he had to do to reengage the trigger.

I'll admit manually lowering the hammer on loaded chamber bugs me a little and I'd probably opt for the V1, but I suspect I'd run into the same problems as Yam.
