250 savage

I haven't seen 250 Sav in stock anywhere for quite a while. I think that Remington is the only current manufacturer making it now and it's a seasonal run for them I believe. Your best bet is probably gun broker or hitting lots of local, obscure gun shops. If you reload, you could probably neck-up 22-250 brass. I've never tried it, but it probably can be done.

Do you reload? I can spare some brass and send it your way if it helps get her shooting. I've also necked up 22-250 brass before and it worked fine, the neck was just was a little shorter than it should be.

Man, I wish I would have read your second post in this thread correctly, I just spent a ton of time trying not to disappoint this little girl's (young woman?) hunt.

At least you might be able to use this information going forward.
I searched many, many sites and only came up with a few options.

1. Reloading. You're going to need to do it anyways eventually with this cartridge.
2. Gunbroker. I saw a few auctions available ending in a day or two. No doubt you'll probably have to pay a premium.
3. Try checking a few of the lesser known gun boutiques. You never know. Also try contacting any LGS in a radius you're comfortable with and see if they have any available or know anyone.
Don't forget to mention that you don't want to let down your daughter. Heck the thought of it hooked me

4. & the bottom of the barrel. The link above has a poster at the bottom of the page offering to sell some rounds a few months back. He left his email address incase you want to contact him.

The .250 is about the easiest and most satisfying rifle cartridge to reload. I shoot ONLY reloads with either 3031 or 4320.

You know it's a sad thing that ammo availibility is so hard to come by.
I was online three weeks ago looking for .35 Remington for my brothers hunting partner and there was absolutely none to be had at most of the online sales places of which I checked at least seven.
Even GB had little and the bids were ridiculous to say the least.
So out of curiosity I looked at other calibers suchs as 6mm,250 Savage,300 Savage etc.
Same problem.
None to very little.
I guess once they do the yearly production run it's time to pony up a few hundred dollars and buy a couple of cases or start reloading.
Fwiw I stopped at an Academy store coming home from fishing last week and actually found two boxes of .35 Remington and bought them for the guy.

Agreed. One of my all-time favorite rounds.

Yep. My hand loads for a M77 push a 100gr bullet at 3000fps. I like it so much I built an AR with a 6.8SPC necked down to .257 which gives me nearly identical performance in a compact autoloader.

According to my records, my preferred load is 34gr of IMR 4895 using a Nosler 100gr Ballistic Tip. I took a nice 8 point with this load back in 2008. One shot, one kill @ approx 100 yards.

My 250 Savage is a custom built M48 Yugo Mauser with an ER Shaw barrel.

.250-3000 like .257 Roberts that I load, is a handloaders round IMHO. Get a press and never look back.

Have you tried ammotogo.com? They have lots of stuff.

Ammo to Go has no 250 Savage.
No 6mm Remington.
No 257 Roberts.
The only 35 Remington they carry is 150 gr. Federal Blue Box.
Sad state of affairs friends.

local gun shop had a few bags of new brass on the shelf last time I was there, been a while though, but within the last year. I have a ton for my 99a

Yep. I've complained about this in recent years.

Unless you pay big bucks and/or build a custom rifle you're pretty much limited to the same old same old... (ie: 223, 22-250, 243, 270, 7mm-08, 7mm Rem Mag, 308, 30-06, 300 Win Mag). There are a few exceptions floating around out there but not many these days.
