I have a BR-99 shotgun with four magazines: 2 x 5 round and 2 x 10 round mags. Here is a picture of the two mag sizes next to a Black Dog 25 round .22LR magazine for comparison:

Ideally I would like to carry the four shotgun magazines in open-topped pouches on a simple vest. I've seen pouches with bungee cords to keep the magazines in place: those could work also I suppose.

My main use for this is going to be for practical shotgun competitions. I'm not going to be vaulting any walls or sprinting, but I need to be able to sit, kneel and lie prone and supine and get to at least one of the magazines if needed.

A double bonus would be if there was some kind of extra elasticized band inside each pouch so I can also use them for the slightly smaller .22 magazines (I have 4 of those BD-25s).

Note: I would be carrying either the .22LR magazines or the 12G magazines, but not a mix of these.

Have you considered using mag pouches sized for Saiga/vepr 12's? I know a SAW pouch will comfortably fit 5 rd S12 mags, and ive heard some of the larger 8+ rds) fit in RPK pouches.....

Good luck finding something that works for your needs, I imagine certain gear cant come easy where you are!

Give us measurements please. I have a box-o-stuff with a few old mag pouches in it. Right off the bat I'm thinking about a grenade pouch which would likely work really well with minor modification.

Thanks I will Google those!

These are rough measurements:

I am guessing I could have a bungee cord pouch that is half the length as described above. Otherwise maybe an open pouch which is 3/4 the length described...

After years of varied hunting trips, and going to specialized schools in the combative use of firearms, and carrying various firearms on a near-daily basis, I have found that the best solution to gear selection is to create your own, or find a skilled person who can make it for you. Some decent sidearm holsters are just fine, but you seem to be looking for shotgun mag pouches that are not common. I had a heavy-duty vest crafted from a set of coveralls, and various magazine pouches with nice sturdy velcro closed flaps placed where I wanted them. Same for any other specialized pockets, hydration pocket on back, glove holder, etc.
