I want to take my Wife somewhere special for our 10 year. The requirements are as follows:

1. Gun friendly laws, I want to have a gun to carry on me without a problem.

2. Nice warm water to swim in, year round

3. Somewhere that is fun to be on an anniversary

Pretty basic I know, what do you suggest?

You have me stumped with the 'warm water year round.' I'd say Florida, but winter ocean swimming isn't too keen in January, even in Key West.

Pigeon Forge, TN, or Branson, MO are fun to be at year round, and there's always indoor swimming in the colder months. Both are very reciprocity friendly for out of state CCWs.

Las Vegas is fun to be at year round, and the outdoor pool swimming is good except in the dead of winter. Pretty reciprocity friendly too, but check http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/nevada.pdf to see if your permit is honored. They even have a place where you can rent and shoot full autos. That's pretty gun friendly.

Hopefully you will get better response than I did when I stated I only take vacations in states that honor my CCW. Oh course, I've noticed some here are critical of every statement made by someone that hasn't been here over 5 years.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm in AZ, have my ccw active.

My actual anniversary is October so I was hoping for a date around then, but I understand the cooler weather makes the swimming impossible.

You and your wife should take a week of class at Gunsite, and stay in the Day's Inn at Chino Valley. The indoor pool is quite nice, hot-tub great after a long day of shooting, and hardly anybody else is ever in the pool area. You said you wanted it to be gun friendly. I can't think of a more supportive place for those who like their firearms.

Florida water isn't too bad in January - I've been swimming at Daytona in January, Key West should be even warmer, as would Naples on the Gulf side. Florida accepts a lot of different states CWPs and between Key West, Orlando and many other places, has a lot fo different options depending on what you two like to do

allaroundhunter,

Congratulations on 10 years! As an oldtimer told me once, marriage is hard at first, but don't worry. It gets easier after 20 years.

Key West Is the Place For the 10th.

Key West in October is fine. There is a decent beach there and the water is palatable .The guns law are very cool. Just no open carry in Florida.

See Hemingway's House, President Truman's old digs, Mallory Square at Sunset, Sloppy Joe's Bar, the Trolley Train Tour, the 90 mile from Cuba Marker, Duvall Street. A short boat trip to impressive Fort Jefferson!

I spent my honeymoon there. True it was in a pre-historic era! :D

But Key West will always be magical. It's the end of the road in America.

Congratulations on #10. May you celebrate many more.

7 mile bridge on the way.

Florida would be a good choice for most everything you need except the swimming part (unless you don't mind swimming in cold water). Some hotels here do have heated pools. You have the option of getting a beachfront hotel with a heated pool and its basically the same thing. You can walk on the beach on the shore with your feet in the ocean, and still be conceal carrying! Yes I do this =)

I didn't check the water temp, but I was sitting on the pier at Flagler Beach, Fla last Christmas day and people were in the water. I am sure it wasn't warm, but they seemed to be enjoying it.
