I'm 68 and the choices don't fit me. Generally I carry a polymer semi auto, but a couple of days ago I actually carried my 629, one of my favorite carry guns is my Ruger Speed Six but then so is my Walther PPK/S. It all depends on what the season is, where I'm going and what I feel I need.

This is an interesting thread, but what about 60 +, and 70 +, I have noticed, as I get older my carry choice differs, In my 50 & 60's I carried a 1911, now past 70, I carry a little old J frame.

Age and gun

I'm 22. I generally carry either a Glock 21 OWB or more often, when I'm feeling rather lazy or am just going to work (can't carry there) :( Glock 42 pocket carry in a homemade holster.

I am in the 50+ category and I carry one of the following:
A) carry a modern platform steel/alloy semi auto
B) carry a modern polymer semi auto
C) carry a 1911/HP style firearm
D) carry a revolver

Most often I carry a 1911. But I carry a Sig P220 quite frequently as well. And then I with switch between my XDS 45 or 38 airweight. It really all depends on what I am doing and wearing at the time.

I'm over 50 and carry several different handguns depending on my mood. They include Glock 23, Sigma 9ve, Sigma 40ve, CZ 75, CZ Rami, Kahr CW9, and Sig P250 subcompact. My favorites are the Sigma 40, the Rami and the Sig.

The Smith Sigma 40ve is the first handgun I bought several years ago. It's trigger was very smooth out of the box. I have run everything through it including semi wad cutters and have never had any kind of jam. It's not the best gun I have IMO, but it is the best gun I have for concealed carry.

31 but started carrying in my 20s. Sig P6/P225. I'm buying a Smith 638 so maybe old age is turning me into a wheelgun guy.

At 69, today I shot my Caspian 45 that I made from scratch as a target gun. I put 10 in a 3 1/2 inch group at 25 yards, iron sights and one hand hold.

If I wanted to go full size, this would be the gun for me but I decided to tone down a bit and now I carry the XDS 45 post recall.

With the right springs and the proper "tune," it has a better trigger than pre-recall and is the perfect size for a little powerhouse.

persons excluded

Just to note a technical flaw, common in these sorts of polls, your poll excludes persons between the ages of 29 and 30, 39 and 40, et cetera...

52, Springfield Armory National Match M1911A1 in .45 ACP. I want something approximating a lightweight commander, though (weight bothers me in my creeping obsolescence). I guess that wouldn't alter where I am in the survey, though.
