I am acquiring a Marlin 30-30 through a trade and would like to cast my own bullets, powder coat them and load them for this rifle. What dies would you recommend. I think you need to flare the case a little for cast bullets.

Strike the Hornady! Should have paid ATTN. To caliber and they only make 'em in pistol calibers. So it's the Rcbs or Lyman.

I had a Devil of a time casting for my "button rifled" Remlin 30-30.

I achieved acceptable results with boolits that used gas checks.

I also found that the Lee, Russian .312 mold, CTL312-160-2R worked well.

It's a bit pointy though. Single load, not for loading the magazine.

Good Luck

I'm using the 2 die RCBS set and I added a Lee FCD for only $13 more.
For a while I was using all Lee dies and that worked very well too.

yes flare the case, because a gas checked round always is the way to go. any die set will work with bullets. when i first started out i had a Lee set, worked just fine. Now i have a Redding set, and that works just fine as well.

I don't know the cost of the Lyman/RCBS sets but can safely say they probably will cost more than a set of Lee's. Reload for about 10 different calibers and all die sets are Lee's and I have never had a problem with any of them.
