Are these better or par with imported brands like Rio, Spartan, Suprema, etc? They seem to be on sale in many online dealers.

Estate has been around for a long time.

And we have killed a few ducks & geese with their steel shot loads.

I imagine the buckshot will make holes in the target pretty good enough.

The independent Estate brand, which was in Texas, was bought out by Alliant (Federal etc) several years ago. Lots of things changed, not all of them for the better. There's an 'old' estate vs. new Estate thread here somewhere.

I haven't bought any Estate since the company's production facilities were moved out of Texas, so I can't comment on their current production from personal experience.

I haven't used them, but my understanding is that they are made in france by Cheddite, aren't buffered, and have very soft shot. They also have Cheddite's standard four stars on the case head. There are also Estate buckshot loads that are made by Federal. The Federal-made Estate shells have a 6-point crimp and are buffered. I think they have the standard "12 GA/Made in USA" headstamp. I wonder if Federal contracted with Cheddite to make up for the shortage over the last 2 years.

I bought a case of estate dove loads years ago when the shells were loaded here by estate, but even then the hulls were cheddite hulls imported from France by estate. Heck even some loading manuals told reloaders the hulls were cheddites.
