Anybody reloading for a 325 WSM? I'm going to try it out. I'd like to develop a long range elk load (200+ yards) and a shorter range (100 yards or less) black bear load.

I don't have any bullets or powder yet. Just planning and researching and looking for good deals right now.

Just curious about other peoples' experience.

I don't have any specific recommendations, other than, you could do both with the same load.

200+ isn't "that far". I've been having great luck in 35 caliber with regular old Hornady Interlock bullets that are very reasonably priced, consider them a very "good deal".

In 8mm for bear and elk I'd go for something in the 200 gr range...

This is my first foray in to medium bore rifle calibers. I've been a .270win fan for quite a while now. but I got a good deal on a Savage Model 16 in 325wsm.

Yeah Kludge, I guess 200 yards isn't that far. Let's just say that I'm looking to work up something that would be more than adaquate out to 400 yards (assuming I do my part; I'm not the worlds best shot  ). I am leaning toward the 200 grain offerings. would you really trust an unbonded bullet like the interlock in a 325wsm? I'm a fan of the interlocks for other calibers, but I figured it would be better suited to use in an 8mm mauser given its slightly lower velocity than the 325. Like I said, though, this is new territory for me.

I think I'll check out those accubonds, jmr. I'm kind of a Hornday and Sierra fanboy. Maybe it's time I broadened my horizons.

Thanks for the input guys.

Tony

The interbonds and Sierria's will work just fine. Just about any 200 gr bullet started at about 2900 fps from the gun is going to work on elk or bear out to well past 200 yards. 400 wouldn't be too far for your 270, I'm sure the 325 will work at that range.

The advantage of the Accubonds is the better aerodynamics which will mean a little less drop and a fair amount more energy at longer ranges. They are also designed to hold up well if a close shot presents its self. They perform much like a partition when they impact game, but with the aerodynamics of a Ballistic Tip.

The accubonds seem like what I'm after. Gonna keep my eyes out for good deals.

Now....on to choosing a powder...or nowadays finding a power that works.

Once I get all my ducks lined up, I'll post load development.
