Square butt. Original stocks. Pawn shop find.

Decent blue, tight, screws have not been messed with... case hardened hammer and trigger. Made in 1958.

$450. Flat OTD. Is it worth it?

I have seen similar condition S&W snubbies priced a lot higher than that. I would do it at $450 OTD.

Yea, if it's in decent shape it would be tagged at LEAST $450.00 around here. I'm guessing it's a Model 10? If it's a 12 or 15 it would most likely be more.

If I wanted it, and I'm not a big fan of "snubbies", I'd try to get if for less, but I wouldn't lose it over a few bucks.

"When was the last time I saw one for less? When do I think I'll see another one for less?"

Those usually settle things for me.

I think it's what is called a 'pre-10' S&W K frame.

Yes all steel frame. Itty-bitty ejector rod.

I THINK it was made in 1958.

More today on it. My wife said I could have a 'Christmas' present but I can't handle it till Christmas!

Hence the lay-away.

But Cajun, I do love snubbies.

But I'm just now getting older snubs.

Got this Colt DS for $270.

You got some nice ones there DS. The only snubbie I've got is a Model 12-2, but at one time I did have a 1955 M&P (a five screw) with a 2" barrel that was unfired, in the blue/gold box with the papers. Man that thing was NICE. kept it for a couple of years, but realized I was (1) never going to shoot it, and (2) wasn't really cut out to be a serious collector, so I sold it off to a someone who was.

Man, you talk about a nice gun though. :D

Sounds about like the going rate lately. If it were me, I'd buy it at that price.

I bought a couple Model 10 snubbies about a year ago, and pricing seems to have about doubled since. Plus they're just fun to shoot.

I have always admired your snub collection Deaf!

I wish I could find deals like that here in California. I was able to find an out of state dealer with a 1954 shipping dated Snubby pre 10. I had to get my 03FFL and get it shipped under the C&R exemption to a 01FFL pay import and registration fees and wait the 10 day. My $400 gun wound up $500 in all but it was worth it. My Grail gun is a S&W from 1951 my birth year. Nice find and have fun with that model 10 subby.

Funny thing about that dscampbell... I to have been looking for a S&W or Colt snub made.. in 1954.

Would be nice to pack a gun that was 'born' when I was.

Say Deaf. I was in my LGS just yesterday and they had a really nice 2" Model 10-5 in the case.

Tagged price? $599.00. :what:

Yea. I'd grab one for $450.00. Especially a four screw. They're less common than the fives.

All of my S&W snubbie have been of the J frame variety. Haven't come across too many Model 10 or the more elusive Model 12 snubbie but sure wouldn't mind finding one in decent shape at a reasonable price.

If you ever run across a 1951 shipping date I will trade and pay all the transfer fees involved

I'll keep my eye's peeled dscampbell.

I'm happy to help out others, especially finding guns that match their revolutions around the sun.
