Well, I took a nice monetary loss today - but oh well.
I traded a Sig P226 Elite for a new Ruger 1911 Commander (yeah, I know Colt owns it), and I am shocked at how well the fit and finish is on this 1911.
The fit is remarkable. I haven't seen a production 1911 with this kind of slide to frame fit; from the back it looks like it was carved from the same piece of steel. It is tight, but not welded-up tight - just perfect in my book. I'm not a Ruger 1911 expert, but I'm guessing that the frames being cast has something to do with it.....or I got really lucky.
The only thing it needs, besides me getting back to the reloading bench, is some Trijicons and 20 LPI on the front strap. If it shoots as well as it looks, these will be my 'best buy' 1911s to talk about moving forward.
I will post some thought after I get it to the range, hopefully tomorrow.
