Got my Illinois CCW today. It took 62 days from the submission of my application. My application number was in the 40,000's. This being Illinois, I figured it would take a minimum of the allowed 90 days before I saw anything so kudos to the state police for getting it to me before then.

Have you gone to Walmart?

I think I'm the only person who purchased ammo with a CCL - if not the only one, then I'm pretty sure I was the first.

Whenever I'm asked for ID now (cc transactions, etc), that's the card that comes out. :)

Congrats on your CCW's IL folks! Y'all (or is it youse or y'uns or you 'uns up there? ;) ) are proof that we are making progress by chipping away with strong legal challenges in even the most gun restrictive states.

I have to time the Walmart tucks, I know when all the trucks come in at the surrounding Walmarts. So I got there right when a truck came in, it turned out that only the manager had a FOID and I waited while they unloaded just the ammo boxes from the truck.

I got 3 boxes of the Winchester 115gr Target and when she asked me for my FOID I handed over my CCL instead.

She said "Are these new?"

I said "Yes they are..."

She went ahead and sold me the ammo. :D

Congratulations!

I have to admit, I enjoy reading all the posts from these newly-minted CC-ers.

My family is originally from southern IL and its definitely "you'uns".

As messed up as Illinois may be, and while our carry law may be far from perfect, its a lot better than the laws in some other states. We may be the last ones to the party but I think we're off on the right foot. As someone mentioned, this isn't a time now to be complacent but to continue to support and pressure our lawmakers to preserve and protect our 2nd Amendment rights.

With my sister and most of my cousins in New Jersey, I understand your envy, Horny Toad. We can only hope that the future will bring an Illinois shall issue outcome to the Garden State.

Warts there are, but it is a start for all Illini.

I'm still waiting. 89 days and counting...
It's a crappy law and the ISP is botching the rollout. Some folks get theirs real quick and others wait and wait. And some have been denied and don't even know why. I hope things improve but then again, it is Illinois...

Congratulations, Well Done, and Thank You for supporting the process. :D

I'm taking my classes and sending my app the end of April...wish me luck!

VooDoo

On day 36, the online status went from Under Review, to Active :D

Now waiting on the card to arrive in the mail.

Application was 108,7xx ........ so it is apparently working better.

Thanks to all the patient pioneers who were the first in line.

Wow, that's damn fast.

They must be getting better at it, or demand has slacked off a lot.

Most of my students were in the 80-90 day range this year. One even went over 150 days due to a "printer problem"...

Ya I talked to a guy today who didn't even submit prints and he got his license in 2 months.

They are getting faster at it.

Now if only I wouldn't get "delayed" every time they call in a check for a firearm purchase. It happens to me every damn time and its really getting old.
