I just picked up a g26 and I really love the size and awesomeness of this gun. It came with two flush fitting 10 round mags and it's a gen3. My next purchase was to be a glock 17 mag for shooting at the range and when I went to add one to my cart at walmart.com the only option it would let me select was for a 10 rd mag. I'm i not aware of some law that was passed or something because I'm a little freaked out. Should I not be doing business with this online retailer?

I don't know what their parameters are. Did they ask what gun it's for? If so, say a 17.

Do they only carry 10 round mags? It may be to keep from violating any state laws that's all they carry.

Cheapest place I found Glock mags, with free shipping, was Ebay.

all im seeing at walmart.com is 10 round, maybe because some states have the 10 round limit so its just easier for them to not have to fool with the different states requirements... why are you freaked out about dealing with walmart? i mean im not a fan of wally world but id think theyre on par with other online retailers

You aren't even buying it from Walmart.

Just go buy from someplace else. There are hundreds of online retailers for these things.

I can't imagine being freaked out by this.

Walmart forms the way they run and regulate their business on the few states that have more regulations. If something isn't legal in California, all Walmarts do the same thing on the east coast.

Walmart is a logistics company that is successful because of simplicity on a large scale. If it's not legal in one locale, they won't sell it in many.

Not true- Walmart sells AR's with "high cap" mags all over the place in the southeast.
In fact I bought my Colt 6920 from them.....

If that was truly the case, they wouldn't be selling ANY gun related stuff because of NY, let alone CA

MY walmarts sell ARs and all sorts of stuff and will order just about anything you want, unlike CA

OP there are WAY too many other online retailers where you can get genuine Glock mags in any configuration you want (providing not illegal in your state)

Using a 33 round G18 in a G26 is kinda fun

The idea of buying magazines from Walmart has never crossed my mind, didn't even know they sold them, or listed them, anyway.

Best deal Ive found on Glock mags these days have been the Korean mags at Wideners. $9 for a 19 mag, $10 for a 17 mag. I have a bunch of them, and they get used weekly, and no troubles. Work just as well as the factory mags.

I have 2 factory Glock mags for my G19 and 2 KCI mags and I can not tell the difference when shooting with all of them. The Korean made Glock mags are extremely well made and high quality.

It's been a very long time since I have seen a KCI magazine for less than $10!

I haven't delved into the intricacies of WalMart's business practices. I suspect that doing so would be a little like watching sausage made. That said, I'll bet the 10-rd limit is to avoid having the workers who fill the orders from shipping a 15-rd magazine to a 10-rd state. Also, what they'll sell online and what they'll sell in the store are two different questions. We have at least 4 WMs here in town. Some sell guns and ammo and some do not. So a decision like that does not appear to be made at the home corporate office, while a decision regarding goods sold online may well be.

I only buy Glock mags from stores that have tons of mag turnover. That way I'm getting current fresh mags, not some ancient dusty gen 1 mag. I bought a G22 mag for my G23 from a LGS. It only holds 14 rounds, not the full 15. No idea why. Maybe they mixed and matched parts at the store. I have a hunch it was a returned mag and they just dumped it on the first new face to walk through the door. Needless to say, I don't shop there anymore.

Places like Lonewolf for example sell tons of Glock mags. So you should get a current mage with the current follower and springs. Gen4's do seem to have stiffer springs.

Sometimes it's better to just buy another Glock. 3 Gen4 mags are almost $150, so I just bought another Glock 23 instead.

Wow, did my image not show up for anyone?

WALMART IS NOT THE ONE SELLING THE 10 ROUND GLOCK MAGAZINES ONLINE!

It's a Walmart Marketplace dealer.

That said, all the conjecture about Walmart not selling things that aren't legal in all states is also moot. Walmart.com (the actual Walmart.com, not a marketplace seller) sells several magazines that hold over 10 rounds. Here are a few:

Beretta CX4/92 30 Round Magazine
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Beretta-CX4-92-30-Round-Magazine/36545243

25-Round Banana Magazine for 10/22 Rifle

30 round Mini-14 magazine
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tapco-MAG4830-BK-Mini-14-Intrafuse-Magazine-30rd/23246837

They also have Marketplace dealers selling them:
30rd AK47 Magazine

And all of those are rifle magazines. He's buying a handgun magazine. I don't know why wally-world does or does not do certain things. But most states that have magazine capacity bans are more concerned with handguns than long guns.

The first magazine he listed is for both the Beretta CX4 carbine and the Beretta 92 pistol.

That's incorrect. Every state that restricts magazine capacity makes no distinction between handgun magazines and long gun magazines.
