That's a rare one. The S&W Model 547 9mm Military & Police was produced from 1980 to 1985. There were 6486 3 inch round butt guns produced during that time. Yours dates to 1982.
There is a high degree of interest in these as both a collectible and a carry gun. If you ever need to sell it, don't just trade it at a gun shop. An advert on here or the S&W forum will probably bring you better money.

Thank you sir. That follows what I was told about the firearm. It was the one thing I chose from my Grandfathers estate. I love it and would never let it go.

F. That Isn't a serial number.

Try again.

The actual serial number is stamped on the grip frame under the target grips.

Your Model 66-2 Combat Magnum Stainless was manufactured in 1982. Value is dependent on condition, and could be in the $450 to $650 range. Check completed auctions on sites such as Gunbroker and compare prices and condition to your gun t get a more accurate idea.

Howdy Y'all....I've been looking for an old 36 for a while, can't find one that isn't beat...This one has been sitting in the case for months and months, the guy asked me how many more times I was going to look at it before I bought it. If the caliber is .38 S&W, then you have a .38/32 Terrier (Postwar) manufactured around 1951. Guns in the 58000 serial range shipped in late 1950. This model uses the small I frame designed for the .32 cartridge, hence .38/32.
If the caliber is .38 Special, then you have a .38 Chiefs Special manufactured between mid 1952 (serial number 36000) & 1955 (serial number 75000). This model uses the .38 sized J frame.

Strawhat:
The Model 25-2 dates to 1977 or 1978, with 1978 more likely.
The Model 25-5 dates to the period 1980-1983. Iif it has a pinned barrel the 1980-82, if no pin, then 1982-83.

Busy Man you are.

Model 1905 Hand Ejector 4th Change
