Hi Folks,

I bought a used Glock 27 with a Lone Wolf 40 to 9 barrel. The previous owner left the 9mm ejector installed. Can I leave the 9mm ejector in and use the factory 40 barrel? We all know you’re supposed to switch to a 9mm ejector to run the 9mm LW barrel. But most people have no problems running the 40 ejector with the 9mm barrel. So is there anything to watch out for if I run the 9mm ejector with the 40 barrel?

I don't own my Glock 27 or 23 anymore, but I used my Lone Wolf conversions with the standard ejector for the .40 for a long, long time and never had an issue.

Ejector or extractor? I never changed either ... only the barrel. Never had any problems but it was a range only set up.

I said and meant Ejector, but I'm curious about using the 9mm extractor as well.

It works. I've converted a Glock 22 Gen 4 and an M&P40c to 9mm with barrel swaps. Like above, never a problem, but its for range use only.

Lenny Magill...

Lenny Magill of www.glockstore.com does demo videos and product descriptions of these Glock pistol conversions. Magill says only the barrels & pistol magazines need changed.
Some advise not using a conversion pistol for self defense or CCW/duty but I think it could be safe if you shoot a few hundred rounds thru the pistol without any problems or misfires.
www.customizeyourglock.com is a good resource too, ;) .

Heck, I just change the barrel. Ten round G23 mags hold a couple extra 9mm rounds

Its certainly worth trying first, but I had to buy 9mm mags for my M&P40C and Glock 22 conversions to get the reliability I demand.

I already had a G19 with extra mags to use, so I never tried using the G23s loaded with 9mm.

AFAIC, my G27 is more reliable with 9mm conversion barrel and 9mm mags and all other parts stock, compared to stock G27. I have had zero malfunctions with the conversion barrel, and I don't even know where I have squirreled away the stock barrel, anymore. It's full-time 9mm.

I have never switched the ejector. I have tried switching the extractor, and I found no difference. In fact, my stock 40SW glock LCI extractor has less gap/play than all of my Glock 9mm LCI extractors. The stock 9mm LCI extractors don't even come close to holding the rim of the cartridge. There's a huge air gap between claw and brass and/or brass and breechface. I'm tempted to swap a 40SW LCI into my 9mm glocks. But to see if that would eliminate the 1 in 5000 stove pipe when using weak ammo, it would be many years before I would be able to even guess if there was a difference.

I may be mistaken, but I think what the OP is asking is if he can use a modified G27 which has had the 9mm extractor and ejecter installed with the original .40 SW barrel without issue or changing the two parts would be neccessary. I do not have an answer as I like most of the others still use my original .40 parts with the conversion barrel. Hope this helps answer his question.:)

That is exactly what I'm asking! Any more answers out there?

If no other answers are forthcoming, my suggestion is due to the reasonable cost of the extractor and ejecter I would probably install the original .40 parts if I were going to primarily use it with the .40sw barrel, which in my G27 works flawlessly with .40sw, 357sig and 9mm with only change being the G26 mags with the 9mm. The parts are readily available as well as plenty of info on installation on the internet. Again hope this helps. Just my opinion, the G27 in any config is a really fantastic little shooter and my favorite still after 20 yrs. and an ungodly number of rounds!:)
