Thanks for the responses to another post requesting values of a package deal I was considering. I wanted to share photos of the beauty my wife and I brought home from Western Kentucky yesterday. The gun dates to early 1998 and the gentleman said he ordered it through a dealer. He thought the RandD .45 Colt cylinder was stainless, but turns out it's nickeled. A little disappointed in that but didn't let it ruin the deal since it's in apparent perfect condition. The gun has the factory box, nipple wrench, papers and lock. The RandD cylinder has box and papers too. It was bought from Brownell's according to the sticker. The gun's bore looks almost polished and hasn't even got a hint of pitting or darkness. Also thrown in was a mostly full box of Hornady swaged .457 balls with the old sticker price of $7.25 on it.My wife and I are really pleased with the purchase. At $600 for the whole set, I think the seller got a fair price and we did too. I'm looking forward to warmer weather and shooting with my frequent shooting buddy Bob, who's also an ROA fan.
Now to sell another ROA of mine I'm proud of. Hurts, but fixed income issues dictate. Thanks again, Don.

Nice very nice. I have the same set up I shoot black powder cartridges wit it on a regular basis. A worth while addition, IMO, and I have mine set up with, a base pin and latch from Belt Mountain. Makes mounting and un mounting the R&D cylinder a breeze.

I shoot cartridges with SWCs and BH 209. Works good. I have also fired quite a few SWCs with 7 grs. of Unique. I quit that because I wasn't sure of the strength of my Howell's conversion cylinder. The Ruger is plenty strong for it.

I noticed you said that your wife was pleased too. That's good that she is into ROAs too.

I shoot a 185 SWC and 7.5 grs of Red Dot out of my R&D conversion cylinder in a Uberti 1858 Stainless, the cases fall out and last forever. I think you will be fine with 7 grs of Unique.

ETA: Tallbald I think you stole that package myself! Good buy!

Beautiful. Just plain freaking beautiful. Congratulations.

Please post that photo in the THR ROA thread.

Pinch-frame? Is that the same as the fixed (gutter) sight ROA? Sorry, I'm new to this...

However, don't feel bad about the nickeled R&D cylinder: iirc, they only offered blued or nickeled until fairly recently [stainless was too hard on the tooling & not cost effective, plus being period incorrect...]

Thank you all so very much for the kind words. I've been admiring the gun and Rand D cylinder, wich is a beautiful little creation too. I'll be happy to get it to the range as soon as Bob, my shooting buddy and range host and I can get there. And thanks, I will indeed post it to the ROA thread of which I'm an old member. Don

I would also like to know exactly what the pinch frame is. Thank you.

To Quote Timothy75 from the thread about Pinch-Frame in reference to Colt '73's on The Firing Line, Jan. 30, 2012:

"it refers to the sight channel on the top strap appearing to come together about a half inch in front of the hammer."

Wow, Tallbald!!!

Hi again. I've been using the "pinch frame" terminology for years, since first hearing it used in reference to Ruger Single Six revolvers that were made with them several years back. Thanks for all the compliments once more. Don
