I'm in the process of buying my first 9mm pistol. That being said I'm also in the market for a 9mm carbine. I'm thinking heavily about a sub2000 and a glock 17 for interchangeably of magazines.

Aside from this combo does anyone else offer anything that shares magazines and is fairly inexpensive?

Excluding the Storm and Beretta now, it's more than I wanot to spend.

The Marlin Camp 9 carbine shared magazines with S&W 59/69 series pistols (as well as the Kel-Tec P11), but they're neither readily available nor fairly inexpensive.

M1key's link to the Nano carbine is worth a look, but it seems to be a new offering so not much in the news about it yet.

Gbdyrd: Nothing wrong with the KELTEC SUB 2000. My Son and I have had one of these in the 9mm and also the 40 S&W that use the Glock Extended Mag`s. For several years now and have not had any problems at all with either. Really they both shoot very well and are pretty darn accurate. And they are a lot of fun just to take out for a walk, or just go plinking with. Both are very light to carry around, and jumping a jackrabbit or coyote at 30 to 40 yds that is running flat out is just a hoot. We can safely do that here KS lot`s of flat open country with no houses. Another gun You might take a look at is a 9MM STERLING semi auto by Century Arm`s . We have one of these and it is just fantastic to shoot and the mag holds 34 rounds I think and it is very accurate also. But the Sterling is some what heavier than the Kelteck, and it does not share Mags, but it is buit like a tank and mine will with stand just about any thing I can put out. All three of these are very fast and very easy to shoot. My Son and I really enjoy them and we shoot them a lot.

I'd be happy to purchase one if I could find one! Last one locally went for around 600$.

Iwas also curious as to what my other options were.

gdbyrd: Your logic is impeccable. Sub2K and a Glock is the ideal combination to me. The carbines are out there, it just takes some searching to find one at a fair price. Since Kel-Tec announced a 2nd generation Sub2K at SHOT the first gens may be discounted some. They are hard to find but definitely worth it.

I paired my Sub 2000 with a G19. While the 19 mags don't fit the subie, the 17's fit the G 19. Here in New Yorkistan, I can keep loaded mags for the sub 2000 in my vehicle as long as I'm carrying the G19, which is usually my EDC. The beauty of the Sub 2000 is it's light weight and foldability and the G19 is legend. I usually don't tote them around as a pair, but if I had to, I can with ease.

The sub 2000 is a fine choice to pair with a Glock

But you might also want to check out the TNW Aero Survival Rifle. It also takes the Glock mags. I am thinking about getting one but I might have to get the two extra conversion kits to have a 3 caliber gun. That Said, I have a sub 2000 in 9mm and a Glock 23 with 9mm conversion barrel.

Youtube video shows nine mm carbine penetrating 2x4 at several hundred yards. I would love to have one.

Skip the KelTec, just get a Glock and the MechTech upper.

Or...Beretta PX4 or 92 and Beretta CX4. Honestly though I really don't see why people are so adamant about getting a pistol and carbine that use the same mags. It's just not that crucial.

Chris, it might not be crucial, but buying one type of ammo in bulk and sharing mags saves cash.

I can see stocking up on one caliber of pistol round but unless you have a hundred Glock mags I don't see the issue, either. Of course, some folks do have a crapload of mags for a given gun. I've heard mixed reviews of the SUB2000 but it's a moot point around here- you can rarely find one and if you do it's gonna cost as much as a Storm carbine. The Nano carbine linked here looks intriguing but there's nothing out there for reviews or user reports so it's an unknown quantity at the moment.

Hey Guys: I don`t know much about this deal, but a friend of mine showed up at our club range a week or so ago, and he had a Keltec Sub 2000 in 9mm and it looked like it was new. He said the gun belonged to a friend of his and that he had just bought it from CDNN in TX in the last few weeks. And that he was going to try to buy it. he said that the owner had bought a Keltec Sub 2000 in 40 S&W recently also and thought he had got it from CDNN as well. I called CDNN a few month`s ago to get a price on a these guns, and was told they were out of stock at that time, but that they got them in every so often. And they recommened I just keep calling back. I guess You just have to call CDNN at the right time.

I also wanted to mention that they did make Sub2000's that used S&W 59/69 series mags too, but those are even more difficult to find than the ones that use Glock mags. They also made Sub2000's to fit another mag, but I forget which - perhaps it was the Beretta 92?

Yup, Glock, Beretta 92 and S&W 59 series.

If I could find a S&W 59 series Sub2K, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Of the very few I've seen, they've all been Glock mags.

Of course, if I could find a Marlin model 9 camp carbine, they also took S&W 59 series mags, and I'd prefer that over the Kel-Tec.

I bought a sub2k specifically to go aside my GLOCK 9mm pistols. Spent the time to add on all the aftermarket goodies including the KelTec quad rail up front.... Then shot it twice and never picked it back up, it hasn't seen range time in years. The trigger is awful beyond description, and the sights sit so low to the frame you need to smash your face against the thing to see through them. I could toss an optic on it but that would defeat the purpose of having a folding compact carbine.

I am now starting my investigation of AR platform carbines configured to take GLOCK magazines. You get all the benefits of the platform plus still get to slap in your 9mm GLOCK magazines. I'd suggest doing some investigation yourself before buying a sub2k.

That's kinda funny, because I think I would have rather bought the Kel-Tec over the Marlin if they had been made at the time I bought my Camp 9.

according to wikipedia, they also made a Sig P226 version?! wonder if that's true?

Maybe I'm a weird dude (well, my wife and kids certainly think so), but I really like my Marlin Camp Carbine. On a long road trip, I will often take it along in my trunk, as it pairs up well with my S&W M6906 which is the primary of my everyday carry guns. (The other is my old S&W Model 38 Bodyguard.) I have had the Camp Carbine for many many years, and I did not think they were expensive guns........ but then again, I have not looked at their prices for probably 20 years!

they weren't expensive when I bought mine 20+ years ago either, but since they're no longer made, they aren't cheap anymore.

Nope, checked GB and saw a few for about $600. For that, I'll just assemble another AR. Maybe if I could find a 9mm BCG cut for S&W 59 series mags for an AR....
