Alot of us can't afford to go to the range that often, nor to spend 500 round working on the fundamentals
these seem like a decent deal, for about or less then 500 rounds, you can work on scenarios at home.
I'm NOT a trainer, nor an expert, but know that a few of you are, thoughts?

Dry fire should be your #1 at home training method and it's free. As far a those products, I'd just get the insert for my actual gun, not the blue gun.

I have the blue gun because it has essentially the same trigger as my M&P 9 and I don't have to keep racking the slide

It is going to do what I want it to do (help me with dry practice) but the total is definitely less than the sum of its parts.

First the pictures that they post on the net are very deceptive. The actual target is 2.5 X 2.5 inches and the frame is 3.5 X 2.75 so you have to be a pretty good shot to start with to use this thing. Of course there’s some benefit to that because you have to really work on shot placement with this thing.

Second the Bluegun that comes with the trainer bears no resemblance to any firearm I’ve ever shot. The grip is roughly the size of a double stack magazine; it feels like you’re holding a broom handle, not a Mauser broom handle an O’Cedar. That said the universal cartridge will fit in any gun from .380 to .45 ACP so you can use it with your gun.

Finally the universal cartridge is sound activated and it doesn’t always light up (When it’s in the bluegun) but that’s not necessarily bad because it’s a perfect opportunity to practice tap rack bangs.

I have one of a couple of the Laserlyte cartridges and use the crap out of them in my pistols. I have one of their targets, but it seldom gets used. I just put up IDPA silhouettes in my basement and use those. It great for practice drawing from concealment, accuracy, and really effective for working with a handheld light.

I have a SIRT and love it. Even though I own more M&Ps than GLOCKS, I went with the GLOCK version because as someone pointed out "a striker fire trigger press is a striker fired trigger press"

I've got to say, i think that having: (bolder are the things I think are REALY important)
-feedback of how good my trigger control is
-something that I don't have to worry about being loadedy
-something I don't have to clear and reload

-something I can leave laying out on my desk
-something I can just pick up and get as many or as few trigger presses in durring a session as I want, regardless of time of day, and without my room mates hearing the distinctive pistol slide racking
-something that lets me practice my reset without racking the slide,
-something that lets me practice reloads without unloading my carry magazine

-did I mention that I don't need to worry about where I'm pointing it? So I can do things like use the squirrels outside as targets?

Is all a good thing. I think dry fire and practicing the drawa with the actual carry gun are important, but I think that the SIRT was worth every penny I paid for it... Not a lot of things I own that I can say that about.

Another benefit of the SIRT is that's it's fun! Not just for me, although it's a major bonus, but over Christmas, even my sister (not a hard anti, but she continually turns down any offers to go to the range) wanted to try it!

Nice! I hadn't realized they'd added a SIRT pistol patterned on the S&W. I have been drooling over them but I don't own a Glock. If SIRT would make one based on the HK VP9 I'd be all over it like a fat kid on cake.

I may have jumped the gun on that.... I've seen pictures of it, but I can't find anything on the NLT website... My bad :(

I think Laserlyte now has a blue gun that has the laser integral to the gun . probably works better than the blue gun + insert.

I wonder if a SIRT pistol would work w a Laser Lyte setup

I read elsewhere that SIRT M&P "beta test" models were sent out last October to testers. I read one testers comments and it appears they still needed some improvements. I've not been able to find any information on release date. Hopefully it will be early this year.

Sounds like a good use of tax return money, I need to practice my draw, and this defitely seems a good value, I know I should get to the range more, but any practice is better than none
