I've been needing to upgrade my EDC holster to something more secure. The Tagua holster I've been using is nice... ok, it sucks. I don't feel it secures my gun well enough.

So through some Google-Fu, I found the AlienGear Cloak, a tuckable IWB hybrid holster, combining leather and Kydex. At under $30, it's easy on the budget. It has a lot of features I like, adjustable cant, adjustable ride height, tucked or untucked, and all under $30.

Also, they have a deal where you get 2 holsters (for different guns) at a discount price.

Any first hand experience with these? Long term carry... how well do they hold up?

I have one on order that should be here in the next 3-5 days. Will report back on the results after carrying it for 5-7 days. Just putting one on does not do it justice. Wearing it out and around will give me confidence in the purchase.

I've been carrying a 2.0 neoprene backed one for a couple months. Very comfy, and the build quality is good. They install the T nuts in all spots and crimp the points so they hold in the ends, and it makes to stiffen the ends. My Old Faithful leather one started warping on the ends, and it made it less comfortable and harder to use.

Anyway, the leather AG versions are built well with thick enough leather, rounded edges, and are great. The 2.0 is also comfy, and the neoprene helps with grip a little so my pants don't sag too much. It holds my heavy Glock 30 comfortably all day.

Just got my first one today. So far I'm pleased. It is no Milt Sparks, but I think it's one of the best values I've seen.

Adjustable, tuckable, and concealable for under $50 to my door?

Ag 2.0

Benn using one for 6 months now with my Glock 30s. Very comfortable and well made. Lifetime warranty and swap of shells should you change weapons. Got two shells when I ordered. Also carry a Colt Defender. No problems with the holster and would recommend them very highly, only drawback is the wait to get them. Mine took 4 weeks. They have a special for the IWB/OWB combo for 49.00. If you want a leather one, they have a Fleabay store with much quicker delivery.

Just got an Alien Gear (the 2 for 1 deal, actually) for my PPS with a spare shell for my CW45. I got the second rig for my wife's LCR.

They're well-made (for what they are; Milt Sparks and Alessi aren't worried), and fit the guns *fairly* well. The LCR does not seem to be able to adjust out all the fore and aft movement of the gun, regardless of how tight I get it, and that's a concern.

I think part of my problem is I'm used to quality leather and kydex that almost 'snaps' the weapon in and out, and with the flexible backing, this will never do that; before I cranked down the PPS I actually found the gun backed halfway out of the holster, something I've NEVER experienced with any holster before.

So for a hybrid, they're probably fine; I'm just not sure a hybrid is something I'll be able to deal with.

FWIW,

Larry

A buddy from work carries his 92fs in one and loves it. I had an old faithful and the quality seems as good or better. I just ordered the 2 holster deal for a 1911 and SIG P290.

I have had one for about 3-4 months, it is the only holster I carry my CM9 on. It is comfortable and has held up very well. I was skeptical at first but it is great...especially for the price.

I can heartily recommend the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck. I prefer the leather Cloak Tuck over the neoprene backed Cloak Tuck 2.0 because to me the Cloak Tuck 2.0 is more comfortable at the start, but in 6 months that's still as comfortable as it's going to get. The leather Cloak Tuck is less comfortable at first, but it breaks in very nicely and conforms to your individual shape and after a week or so is more comfortable than the 2.0.

I can also recommend getting the twofer deal if you have a need for a second holster, or if you want to get an IWB and an OWB holster.

Also, I used to recommend the leather loops, but the newest molded Kydex clips are very comfortable and secure.

I haven't owned a leather backed Alien Gear but I owned anoher more expensive brand and will admit the Alien Gear started off comfortable and has not changed any while my oldhorsehide leather one started out stiff and in about a week or two softened up, wth multiple applications of leaher conditioner and wear it was much more comfortable in a month +. I don't now if it was any more or less comfortbale then the neoprene though.

I purchased AG combo holster package 2 months ago. Great holster and I was impressed. It has held up great.
