When walking through the local Bass Pro Shop reloading section I found that they had Bullseye powder in stock. Now normally I wouldn't buy something like that from them since it seems like everything in the store has about a 30% markup vs online and smaller local sellers. However I had a gift card, so I bought a pound for $28.50 + tax.

How'd I do? I assume that this is going to be rather high, but is there anywhere else to find it for cheaper?

Thanks.

He did just fine for where he is at. I have seen it higher elsewhere. Powder has gone up; some more than others, especially Hodgdon. But it doesn't matter, there will ALWAYS be some folks who will find it somewhere else at a better deal then you, even if it was free... ;)

Last time I bought some from them, I ordered online and had it shipped to store. I paid about $5 less than that. I don't expect it will be much cheaper anymore, however, for local sales. Online, you can find it cheaper, but you have to figure in shipping & hazmat fee...

A while back Perry's had BE for 39.95, so in that case you did great! However ( and there always is a however) a couple of months later they had the same powder on sale for 22.95. Go figure!
I would pay 30 bucks a pound if I needed some BE so I feel you did OK. Catpop

who cares how you did? did you need the powder? was it worth the price you paid to you? that's the only thing that counts.

It is still out there for a fair price. I pay $21.00 at a LGS for 1 lb.

An 8 lb jug goes for $125.00 (that gets it down to about $15.62 per lb).

Bottom line, if you need the powder you have to decide what it is worth to you.

I paid 27 at gun show this past weekend. Thats only because i wanted another pound and wasnt at my lgs. Sure its on higher side of price, but $5 or so wont kill me.

$28.50 is steep, but it seems to be about what dealers and gun show vendors get in my area.

I just got 12 pounds of Alliant brand powder in the mail last week. After shipping and hazmat, it averaged $21 per pound.

Thank for the info guys. I appreciate it. I just set up my reloading press, and turned out my first 50 rnds of 9mm last night. So, the powder was bought to start up. Overall it looks like overall it's costing me 11 cents/round to make. I dare say as time goes by I'll start buying in larger quantities to get the cost of production down even more, but for now I'm quite satisfied.

while not a great price, it certainly wont break the bank considering that pound will load you up near 2,000 9mm loads. My lgs that specializes in reloading sells most alliant and hogdgon(when they have it) for 20-21/lb + tax. most other stores in the area with a shelf of powder want $30 a pound. Trust me, you will eventually be buying in bulk. Powder is good for a very long time and it is not going down in price. I have some bullseye on my shelf that I got from Powder valley last month. after shipping and hazmat it cost me a hair under $20 a can.

That's not terrible. "Local prices" are a lot higher for me than internet prices.

My local shop had Bullseye about 3 weeks ago and I got 2 lbs for $25 per lb. Online would be cheaper, but by how much I'm not sure because I haven't actually seen Bullseye in stock online for at least 2 years :).

I still haven't ever run dry on powder during the shortage, but I've been having to shoot some "odd" loads. Been shooting USPSA for nearly a year now running Power Pistol in light 9mm target loads :(. It works though.

All of the Bullseye I have right now was purchased last year for $19.99 per pound. But my father just bought some 2 weeks ago from the same place I normally buy from, and he paid $24.99/lb.

BassPro is consistently higher in price on virtually everything in the store. But. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

I paid $24.99/lb plus tax shipped to the local Bass Pro Shop in October. I was out and would have paid the same price you paid so I bought 8 lbs. I just ordered 26 lbs of assorted powder from Powder Valley which averaged less than $20./LB, I am now stocked for the near future (I had already stocked up on primers).

I saw two 1lb containers of Bullseye at Cabelas in the low $20's, prices seem to be coming down.

Yes you paid more than expected - but we all have done that the past year. A few months ago I paid $26.99 for a 14oz (not 1lb) of 700x, but I needed it.

The lgs here charges $28 - $34 a pound for there powders. The online places charge less but if you don't buy a bunch the hazmat and shipping charges bring it back up just as high.

Not a great price, but it is a good find for you if you are looking for Bullseye. The LGS big box store out here used to charge about $20/pound, but Alliant powder has been selling for about $28+tax over the last few weeks and the only powders they've had recently has been slow rifle powder. Since 1# of BE typically loads about 1200-1400 rounds, you will be good to go for a while.

It's amazing that just a couple of years ago, you could decide on what powder you wanted, go to the store, ask for it and get it in 1, 4 and 8 pound jugs. And 22LR sat on the shelves by the thousands.

I paid 27 at gun show this past weekend. Thats only because i wanted another pound and wasnt at my lgs. Sure its on higher side of price, but $5 or so wont kill me.
$5 may not kill you but it harms everyone else. The more people are willing to pay the higher the prices will be. Personally I refuse to pay more than $25 and I'm not happy with that either.
