I have done some damage to my shoulder and haven't been able to shoot since last August. My doctor said the shoulder looked good and gave me a tentative all clear for a small amount of shooting. Even though it was below freezing, it was warmer than it has been and I was climbing the walls to get out. It was a beautiful sunny day and I ran my first round and dropped three on the second finishing with a 47/50. I am looking forward to Spring and hope I can keep shooting.

47/50 on first 2 rounds out in several months? Very impressive, at least to me. I guess we all have our own expectations, but generally anything over about 80% and Im feeling pretty good about it.

I was thrilled with it and was grinning like an idiot for the next 10 minutes. I would have been happy with 40/50 as well. I think the lay off forced me to concentrate a little more than I normally do when shooting a lot.

My scores however allow plenty of room for improvement.
Same here.

I'd have probably tore up my other shoulder trying to pat myself on the back if I'd gotten a score like that. If I can get three rounds with more than 18/25 each, I feel like an Olympic champion.

I'm hoping to improve this Spring. A local club I just joined has two folks who used to coach a local college skeet and trap team. I'll be asking for suggestions. I just hope the suggestion isn't "give up".

What's that funny looking white stuff everywhere? :p

Seriously, good shooting. If shooting a 12, you might want to look into 3/4oz reloads if you haven't already, same for 20. I do both and they crush targets and are easy on the shoulder.

Thanks Everyone. It was nice to get out there. Shooting well and seeing a few friends that I havent seen in a while made it even better.

A few years ago, I moved to 7/8 oz loads and when the pink 3/4 oz claybusters came out and lead hit $40 a bag, I made the switch and never looked back. My shoulder aches just thinking about 1 1/8 oz loads.

I use 1-1/8 @ 1350 for some registered sporting; in the A400 it is still soft, but there is a noticeable difference when I fire one after the 3/4 oz reloads!
