If it was legal for you to do so, would you CCW while praying with a group in front of an abortion clinic like Planned Parenthood?
It can be a contentious even unstable setting. Police are called periodically (by those praying, not by PP.) People have become very aggressive but I haven't experienced anything physical over the years. The reason I ask is because I am trained to go the extra mile to avoid any potential trouble while CCWing. If I intentionally put myself in this sort of situation, should I leave my firearm legally secured in my vehicle? Should I go quietly place it in my vehicle once the police are called? Or should I recognize that this is the exact sort of setting should encourage me to CCW? What I don't want to do is leave the rest of the group in that sort of situation.
There's also the issue of publicity (which some would suggest is a non-issue.) When the police arrive if they found that someone was legally CCWing it would immediately be spun hard in the local media (even if there was no arrest/citation) in a most anti-gun/pro-abortion way -- "threatening armed zealots hanging out in front of a free women's healthcare clinic", the whole shebang.
I already carry a walking stick (nothing crazy) that has caught the attention of more than one cop in that setting. While I take great pains not to print I can imagine where a very sharp eyed cop might be able figure out that I was CCWing. Thanks.
