"CNN)Sarah Brady, who with her husband, James Brady, pushed for stricter gun control laws, including the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, died Friday, her family said. Brady, 73, died of pneumonia, the family said. "

And also remember other legislation in her husband's name that didn't get passed, like Brady II. The '94 assault weapons ban caused such a political backlash, that many Democrat politicians got thrown out of office. Thus Brady II never saw the light of day.

Regardless of the outcome of her objectives, I wish her family and friends strength in this difficult time of her passing.

It's ambivalent at best, I have no feelings one way or the other. Just another politician who passed on, no more no less.

She stood for what she believed and died with her boots on, so to speak. Hopefully we all can be so lucky. May she find everlasting peace and may we all be as lucky to have a love to stay with us as she stayed with her husband if we are crippled. A true gentleperson does not rejoice at the passing of their opponent.

RIP Mrs. Brady.

It's possible that on her deathbed she had a moment of illumination, and realized that her life's work had only succeeded in interfering with the ability of ordinary people to defend themselves against lethal threats, and may in fact have caused needless deaths and injuries.

I hold no animosity toward Sarah Brady. As misguided as she was...she was driven by emotion resulting from the trauma that her husband suffered. Sarah felt that her mission was noble and she believed in what she was doing. She was played by the anti-gun zealots in Washington who saw her as a useful idiot to be exploited under the guise of caring about her anguish.

She blamed the gun instead of the shooter. She's not the first. She won't be the last.

Let's keep it in the (high) road. She's at rest. She can't do us any harm now.

She may even have realized that her life's work had not resulted in preventing one single evil person from obtaining a gun and harming someone with it.

I'll shed no tears for her. She and her ilk would disarm honest law abiding peoples and put them at the mercy of thugs and crooks.

Glove,

You are being way to harsh in judgement of someone you probably know little about other than her anti-gun activism. You should have, as I have, sympathy for the loss being felt by those who loved her. Despite the harm she has done to supporters of the RKBA she may have otherwise been a very good person. You are certainly not doing anything good for the public's perception of 2A supporters by making such a damning comment.

Mrs. Brady is a perfect example why we should never permit victims or those who loved a victim to decide what is an appropriate punishment for an action that harmed them. Until a firearm was used to injure Mrs. Brady's husband she had little or no concern about gun ownership. Once Mr. Brady was harmed Mrs. Brady supported a crusade to punish all gun owners for the actions of one individual.

I believe Thermactor's post regarding condolences to the family was put up with the best of intentions in the spirit of THR, and I concur.

THAT SAID, I won't soon forget what she did regarding my right to bear arms....

Because I believe that all life is sacred, I too offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Sarah Brady.

For me, the apparent dichotomy between our 2nd Ammendment positions arises from our shared sense of the sacredness of life. We express it differently but I'm convinced the rootstock is shared.

Sorry - I disagree with those who, genuinely or not, issue condolences for her passing. The foes of freedom, however well intentioned or human they may be, are ultimately fighting to deprive others of their human rights.

Good riddance to every last one of them.

She was misguided in her cause. Maybe she was a "nice" person; I don't know. However, I consider anyone who attempts to infringe on my freedoms my enemy. Bloomberg, Soros, Obama, Brady, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Feistein, et al will find no sympathy here.

I have no ill will towards Sarah Brady. The anti gun crowd used her and her husband for all the mileage they could get out of a terrible incident. It just closes out a chapter in their propaganda machine.

Fear not, they''ll find another poor soul to exploit.

So true. So misguided . I'll still pray for her soul. Rest in peace, Sarah.

The right to disagree

The right to disagree used to make our country strong.

I did not agree with her but I understood why she did what she did.

When we lose the right to disagree, what do we have?

May she rest in peace.

I wonder how many honest citizens died because they were denied reasonable access to a weapon due to the laws she lobbied for.
